This is an AWESOME lecture by one of magic's brightest stars. His improvements and presentation on
the classics are simply beautiful and superbly thought out.
Every single action he makes,
be it to hide a secret move or simply to enhance the effect, has a NATURAL reason for being such
that nothing suspicious goes off in your head even when you're burning his hands (which he invites
you to).
This means that when the magic happens, you're caught completely off guard. His
timing is impeccable and his magic is refreshingly different even though he's doing tricks you've
seen before.
His torn and restored newspaper is the BEST version ever created and a true
beauty. This is because he is OBSESSED with eliminating every single suspicious move in a particular
effect such that even when you know the basic secret to it, you're still completely blown away by
not only how smooth the restoration looks at the end, but also how smooth his flipping of the
newspapers to show it's normal (without "fighting" with the newspaper's pages that are drawn by
gravity to make it difficult for you to flip them, especially the broadsheets), and the actual
tearing of the newspaper itself.
He totally eliminated the "2 thumbs behind the newspaper
in readiness for a flash restoration" position that must happen in the regular torn and restored
newspaper. The end result is the FASTEST and SMOOTHEST newspaper restoration ever seen, as well as
the most puzzling one for both magicians and laymen alike.
You'll shake your head in
appreciation of this man's genius in so many different ways you can't help but smile throughout the
lecture.
Alex Hecklau is funny (although if English were his first language he'll probably
be funnier), his gimmicks are INGENIOUS - you've probably never seen them before (watch out for his
Chop Cup effect that requires no ring!), and his THINKING on not just the effect but also the way
the effect should be presented to get the maximum amazement is simply top notch.
I ended up
APPLAUDING him when he ended, right in front of my computer screen, after 200+ minutes of pure
entertainment and genius. You will too. Get this lecture now. :-)
