I purchased this effect because I loved Mike Stoner's "Rover" from the Icandy volumes, but
unfortunately it pales in comparison.
The description of this effect leads the consumer to
believe there is a different mechanism at play then is what is to be expected. But in reality,
Q-brake focuses on cleaning up the gimmick so you can say "hey, look and now the car doesn't stick
anymore." (There is a reason the dislodge of the selected card is not shown in the demo.)
In
Stoner's effect "Rover" there is no need to clean up the self contained gimmicks because there is
never any heat on them. The vehicle in Rover also moves much slower adding to the suspense of the
effect.
The vehicle card location plot is an audience pleasing effect regardless which one you
choose, but in terms of method, Rover is self contained, instantly resets, and has a much larger
target for the card to hit. Rover takes a little more experimentation to make 100% reliable, but in
the end you'll have an absolutely killer trick, especially when combined with a memorizes deck.
