One of the worst tricks I EVER bought anywhere! Buyers Beware! Report this review

I have bought a lot of things throughout my career. I first did put an order at penguin in 2005! Of course not always is a trick great, however Money Shot here is just beyond words. I was extremly looking forward receiving and performing it. It looks so insanely visual. It really does. So what makes this a garbage product?
The gimmick is a single, standard playing card (!!!) with a little extra to it, I cannot further go into detail about. If you are not new to magic, you can already imagine how long a damn single standard (e.g. non plastic, or hardened in anyway) playing card lasts? You haven have to crease the card multiple times. Then you have to wear the gimmick in your pocket until you are ready to perform. Have you have had a playing card in your pocket for a whole evening??? Can you imagine what this card will look like after one or two evenings of performing? If the gimmick was something to attach to a card so you can replace it and always be sure to have a fresh crisp card/gimmick...but not in here.
But wait, there is more! In order to perform it like you have seen it, you have to actually destroy money. Thats right. No mentioning of this anywhere before you bought it. For countries with non 1$ Bills it is extremly annyoing! You think I am done? Hell, no!
One of the more interesting routines on the explanation is having the spectator borrowing you a bill. Then they teach you how to do the trick with their money and leave out the entire ending! I am not joking. You place their money into your pocket (!), do the routine which leads to having a money bill changed to a playing card and then they end the trick. Did it ever occur to the creators that the spectator would like to have their frickkin money back? They leave it up to you how you get out of this. They do not even mention it! And of course you cannot simply reach into the same pocket again and grab their bill and say: oh by the way here is your bill...so have fun working it out for yourself.
One more? Sure. Once you put Money Shot into your cart and buy it there is no option of which color of the gimmick you want. I got a damn blue one. I never use blue cards in any of my acts. So what now? After all the BS I went through with this trick I am not even able to perform it properly because they randomly send you a gimmick, weather it fits into your routines or not. I cannot believe this. The trailer was showing a red deck of cards and whole time, every single shot of the gimmick it is red! And I get a damn blue one. Just wow...
Oh hey there is even another point. They do NOT teach how to make this ridiculously expensive gimmick yourself. Thats right. You receive the most fragile gimmick ever and no instructions how to make on yourself after this single card is looking like crap. 25 bucks for a single gimmick and if this is done you have to figure it out by yourself how to reproduce it, or you buy a new one for 25 bucks + shipping.
I am so p#ssed about this. Unbelievable. One of the very worst effects I have ever bought. I totally feel ripped off!

Rather passionate about the trick 'eh? Slightly misleading advertisement too.
I appreciate your review.
Have you contacted PM? Being a loyal customer myself, if I ever found myself "so P#ssed" (your words...) about a trick, I would certainly chat with them.
I guess that PM should get credit for posting your review.
Generally, the negative review is more helpful to me more so than a "boat load" of positive ones.
This reminds me of the "Evolve" trick...shows great on the video, but not a $37.00 trick and I have to make my own gimmick. We'll let that one mature a little bit.
I guess that this goes into the junk box that we all have.
Hope that it works out for you.
Thanks again!

I already have Money Shot. Have not used it yet, but can see the need that it will need replaced, so please P.M. Can you somehow arrange some instructions for us to remake gimmick. A great trick, but needs wear and tear replacement. A lot of magicians would be more loyal to an already good company. Cheers.

Well I didn't buy the trick but I could tell from watching the video a couple times how it was done. I might try to make a gimmick myself and see how it works. There is no way I would spend $25.00 on this trick though. You can see how ragged the gimmick looks in the video itself.

I'm not sure if Markus watched the full video or not but they do in deed teach a method of how to return the spectator's money (or make it magical reappear / transport). That being said, I do agree with his concerns about the gimmick. My biggest frustration is paying this much for a trick and having to still "finish" making the gimmick. Not to mention there are some serious viewing angle issues if you don't properly fold / hold the card correctly.

Good gracious. I too bought this trick and have only used it a few times but will certainly use it more in a few years (I have a five year old so lots of magic to ensue in the coming years). But seriously, sure this gimmic will certainly need to be replaced but it’s super easy to replicate and the stunning visual is probably worth 20 or more dollars to learn. Maybe try basket weaving as a hobby?

My gimmick arrived and my gimmick had come undone. Asked PM to help in the possibility of giving advice on how to fix and didn't get a response right away(believe it was 2 days) in which time I tried to fix it myself. Doesnt line up right and now will be thrown away. PM contacted and asked for pictures but I had already attempted to fix so I'm SOL. If anyone knows of the material used since penguin wont tell I will start making replacements. Great trick just wish mine came as advertised and we had an option to fix.

If the Gimmick breaks, it is easy to make a new one and you can use the original as a base to figure out how to make it. With just a little knowledge of knowing how to use an Exacto knife, some common party items, or a dental Item, a pair of scissors, some rubber cement, and a ruler. One can remake the gimmick very easily. The base knowledge is can be obtained through learning card splitting and making acrobatic cards.
Instead of going online and complaining, or demanding help. Take what is available and learn how to solve the problem yourself.
For info on how to make an acrobatic card that will at least give you a base understanding on how to make the gimmick, look for a DVD called The Art of Card Splitting. I believe it is near the end that they go over acrobatic cards.

I first purchased this a long time ago and loved it! It is very visual. But I quickly realized (as it is mentioned in his rather acerbic spanking) that the gimmick would quickly become worn out beyond usage because a folded and creased card would break down after just a few performances.
So I contacted Penguin to purchase a replacement gimmick and was told....NOPE!
I would have to repurchase the entire trick that was now $25 when I only paid $10.00 for the first one. That's when I became just as pissed as this reviewer.
