I had purchased this spool of thread for the specific goal of performing in front of 600 people at
my school talent show. The performance went awesome, and I used this thread to replicate the "ghost
touch" hypnosis effect seen many times by today's magicians. Here are the pros and cons of the
Mesika Elastics
Pros: Durable and VERY elastic. These things are exceptionally stretchy. If
you are in the right environment, they are also invisible.
Cons: Exceedingly difficult to
prepare. If you are wearing light clothes or have glaring lights in the environment, the thread can
be detected. Out of the 600 people that saw the trick, I think two or three suspected the method.
Also, if the mere idea of invisible thread is implanted in the spectators mind, they will
immediately recognize the character of the motion of the object you are manipulating and the trick
will be foiled.
How to remedy the Cons:
Watch a youtube tutorial on how to make a
loop before you even open your package.
You are the performer! Manipulate your stage,
change your clothes, position the spectators! It wont be easy or go perfectly but if you control
your environment you will perform better.
And think creatively. If you make a dollar bill
move by jerking your hand back, every non-monkey spectator will deduce there is some sort of string
attached to your hand!
