This lecture is one of my least favorite lecture it was a major disappointment.
Lecture:
1-10 minutes Dan talking to David about what David has done and a TINY bit of theory
10-30
Performance of castle act
30-135 Explanation of: His chop cup not much new here from his old
routine and his very specific to him
Card Warp a very setup heavy trick and not many people will
be doing this one
Miser Miracle old and hardly anything new here
Close to my heart a very
intersting trick that has potential but it takes a lot of prep and their are many similar effect
Clarity Box you almost have to buy the trick from david to use it. He then teaches a card to
impossible location using a very well known and old principle.
Zig Zag box(PERFORMANCE
ONLY) REALLY YOU ONLY EXPLAINED 4 TRICKS THAT YOU CAN USE AND THIS IS PERFORANCE ONLY. This is
probably his best idea
Then he half way explains Change for a Five. This can be found in
better places DST and Approaching Magic.
Hotel 52 PERFORMANCE ONLY AGAIN REALLy
Then he and dan talked for half an hour about the carbonaro effect
Thats it about it.
This is very disappointing when you know David can do WAY better. The theory was also disappointing
nothing that I haven't heard and there wasn't much of it
Eugene Burger said in his lecture: Every miracle has it's price. Card Warp is a small miracle and the set-up that Regal developed is a significant improvement. I assure you: many people already do this and will do this.
I agree with you a big setup with a big payoff is worth the effort. Like for example spending 20 minutes making a bill to impossible location is definitely worth the effort. However instead of having all of those "gimmicks" you can have one and force it and conceal the gimmick with your hand and allow another spectator to have a free choice on another card. I can't remember the effect exactly, but correct me because I think this should work.
Plus when you're David Regal and you teach around 6 tricks and most of them use very complicated setups or are old you are disappointed. I also thought that theory was lacking in learning about competitions. Well anyways kalliper let's agree to disagree. I think that david regal is a good performer and better work can be found else where.
