Thom is one of my favorite magicians working today, he’s relatable, personable, and all around a good guy. In this lecture you won’t get any half-baked theories, new untested ideas or B level routines. Thom gives Penguin his best by presenting routines and effects that he performers in his professional work and that he can speak to. Thom presents the following:

Lemonade Racket (Cheers) – Thom’s pet opener can be yours. With a lemon, a glass of liquid and a bottle, this opener hits your audience right between the eyes. I loved it!

Kapow!- This is Thom’s 10-second strolling magic opener. That's right 10-SECONDS. It breaks the ice and is a coin trick that will drop jaws.

Thomato: A real cherry tomato is smashed flat between your hands, and everyone even the tomato is surprised. This is so whimsical it made me smile.

George of the Jumble – This is one of the best torn and restored dollar tricks I have ever seen. *Note this can only be done with U.S. currency.*

Wise Quack- A number prediction, a rubber duck, and tons of comedy potential, this trick is a winner. This was one of my favorite things in the whole lecture, I love the effect, the thinking behind it, and the method.

Spooning, and Revenge of the Spoon 2.0 - A full stand up spoon bending routine. This is a full 9 minute routine and for those looking to put in the work to make it up it can be a memorable magic moment. For those who still like the routine and don’t have the time to make it up, you can get it directly from Thom.

P.M.D. - In this coin and card trick a coin passes through a deck of cards and then finds a selected card. This trick looks fun do to and would be great for walk around.

Walking Williamson – This card routine is simple yet seemingly impossible. This would be great for walk around or magic at the bar.

Pit Boss- This is a mental epic that finally makes sense. No fancy chalk board, just a pad of paper. If you do corporate work or are looking for a beautiful stand up mentalism effect you will use this. The best part, Thom gives his tips on using it for a corporate audiences and it uses items almost every magician already has.

Rock, Paper, Rabbit - Prestidigitation with a Post-it pad, this routine gives a good ending to the classic two in the hand one in the packet routine.

Chapie- This is the one trick Thom carries with him all the time. A card is torn into pieces and in a very fun and visual way, those pieces of card re-assemble themselves and appear inside of a tube of chapstick. This is a perfect close-up closer and plays great for groups. I’m putting this in my close up set and when you see it you will be too.

Don's Card Stab- A practical walk around card stab, that is super clean and easy to do. This is an awesome multi-phase routine, and there are no complicated moves. During this routine we get to see Thom do what he does best and play with his spectators.

E.S.P. Your Pants (Just Fate…): This is an E.S.P. card effect you will actual want to do. It is a great way to present table magic that gets multiple spectators involved in the effect.

Marked Improvement- A highlight of Thom’s Magic Castle Act, this is a crazy visual and original color changing deck routine. It ends with a hilarious revelation that you will love.
Fish Tale – With one of those cheesy red “fortune teller fish” Thom creates a unique close up comedy routine. It will make you want to get a fortune teller fish of your every own.

That’s 15 commercial, time tested, close up and stand-up routines, awesome, I know, but that’s NOT the reason you should get this lecture. Thom shares his tips and trick on routing, character creation, audience interaction, road stories, mixing silliness with magic, writing comedy and other crazy antics with penguin live. Thom and Dan Harlan sit down in a 40 minute post show interview that was entertaining to watch. Thom talks about this table set up and all though he doesn’t truly care for it, for artist reasons, I’m building one for my personal use. Thom is a wonderful performer and seems like a truly genuine and real person on stage. If you want to see a great blend of magic, comedy, along with some solid advice this is the lecture for you. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
