I needed something simple, something highly visual, something that could be done both (A) quickly and (B) silently. And, because I was replacing an effect that wasn't working in a play on short notice, I needed something I could learn quickly and perform confidently with only a couple of days to practice. This simple but effective C&R effect fit the bill beautifully.
