I totally agree with Andy I have been using I.D.H for about 10 years down under, I can see why other Dave workers use it. My Doves are always happy to wear it.... so long as you don't put it on to tight! Really the only thing that has ever gone wrong with harness is the wire snapped once when I did balloon to Dove(Bit of a downer!-check it out on Andy Amyx DVD), I really needed to change wire more often. I think it was also affected by humidity in the area I was performing in. Also the wire is very affordable from Penguin and you get loads of it!
The one star review causes me to question the experience level in Dove Magic of the anonymous reviewer. I have been involved with Dove Magic since 1977; and, have seen most of the invisible dove harnesses put on the market since then. The basic design which Andy Amyx has based his IDH on is considered the best and safest overall design since it was first introduced to the magic fraternity by James Rainho of Simplex Magic in the 1960s; however, the Andy Amyx version of that classic design is far, far superior and much more secure - both for a successful barehanded dove production and the safety of your valuable and beloved doves. I have used this design in it’s original Rainho-Simplex form, it’s improved version of this same design from Peter White of P&A Silks in the late 1980s,, to this improved version of the design which top dove workers like Andy Amyx and James Dimmare use today. This is hands-down the CADILLAC version of this design; and, represents the zenith of its evolution of design improvements over the decades. The notion which the reviewers expressed about “Quite pricey for what it is”, to that I would remind anyone reading the review that an IDH needs to be “invisible” to the audience; and therefore, needs to be as visually insubstantial as possible; AND YET, needs to assure a successful and safe dove production at the same - which is not an easy thing to achieve - which is why we have seen so many wildly different designs and types of Invisible Dove Harnesses offered over the years - AND YET, THE PROS by-and-large have have traditionally relied on the basic Rainho/Simplex design and in all its stages of evolution (ESPECIALLY tho version offered by Andy Amyx) time and time again. And, if someone wants to fairly judge if the Andy Amyx invisible dove harness is “pricey”, I would simply suggest that person get the needed materials together, start a timer, and try making one themselves. If they have the patience, needed skills, and value their time at all, they will see what a bargain they are receiving for the price, in addition to all the benefits and surety this version offered by Andy Amyx provides in return. Hopefully he never stops making them; and, at the current asking price.
