I felt compelled to write a review on this book when I noticed the poor review that was on here. It
is true that Denis does not teach all of the sleights in-depth in the book. In fact, he shouldn't -
they aren't his to teach, and this book is not for beginners. This would be akin to complaining that
a book on advanced calculus for college students doesn't teach arithmetic.
Denis' material
in both this and Vol. 1 of Handcrafted Card Magic is absolute gold, especially for anyone who
performs card magic with a stacked or memorized deck. For me, Herbert the Trained Rubber Band alone
was worth more than the cost of the book. And don't overlook a very clever ACAAN, or a neat idea
that could allow you to stack a deck even after performing the fantastic effect by Chad Long,
Shuffling Lesson.
A complete winner for me, and one of the books that I keep going back to
read from time to time for inspiration and expert tutelage in card magic. 100% recommended, provided
you have the "prerequisites."
