I ordered the fire wallet 2.0 because I needed it for a gig, and ended up not using it because after
practicing with it for two weeks, I could not get it to light reliably. It lit once every 3 tries
or so. I adjusted the flint, made sure there was enough lighter fluid and that I used the proper
fluid, and even had a fellow magician check it out to see if I was just not striking it properly.
No luck. It seems like a durable wallet and I liked the spring-loaded flap, but it was so
unreliable that I couldn't use it. Too bad.
I had this problem in the beginning too...but...I found that it is much more reliable when you strike the flint when the wallet is in a "V" position when all the vapors have not evaporated. Hope this helps, I have had no other problems since then.
I'm wondering how long you can leave it after putting the lighter fuel on to performing?
Bigun, I have never used this particular wallet, but have been using a fire wallet daily for over 10 years. In general, with any fire wallet, you will need to apply lighter fluid daily. It only takes a few seconds, and a $1.50 can will likely last you several months. It has become routine for me to apply fluid every morning just like brushing my teeth. Even if you never use the wallet all day, you will need to apply more fluid the following day since it dries up and evaporates. And depending on the frequency of usage, you may need to apply more fluid during the day. When the flame stops igniting easily or the flames die down quickly, it's time to add more fluid.
