CLONK3 is an absolute MARVEL. Reliable, compact, ingenious, and, best of all, utterly PRACTICAL for
real world work. Living room, bar, cruise ship, stage, stand-up, streets, banquet hall, theater,
wedding parties, television, you name it. Just great.
Plus, even though CLONK3 comes with a
perfectly fine coin pail, YOU CAN USE CLONK WITH MOST ANY COIN PAIL OR RECEPTACLE YOU WISH. The pail
itself is UNGIMMICKED (except for the slightest modification that takes all of 10 seconds to apply,
then your pail is good forever with Clonk).
At any point in your Miser’s Dream routine, or
as a stand-alone effect, CLONK3 will allow you to have from 1 to 3 coins audibly, tactilely, and
actually drop into your coin pail while it is in an audience member’s hands, held above their head!
You don’t have to end your Miser’s Dream routine with Clonk (although I’m not sure how you’d top
it), but if you wish to continue the routine or use the pail further in your show, you can. The pail
ends clean! The pail begins clean! Before and after the Clonk effect is performed, the pail is just
that — a metal pail. You could even do Clonk per T. Nelson Downs, using a top hat with a plate
inside as your receptacle.
TIP: Speaking of coin pails, I would advise removing the two
rings attached to the sides of the pail that comes with CLONK3. As other Miser’s Dream workers have
noted, anything on the pail or bucket that rattles or clangs can be audibly confusing and can lead
spectators to think that is what creates the sound of a coin or invisible coin landing in the
bucket.
The close-up routines using a glass and a cover fashioned from newspaper are
good, as are the methods for having one of the coins that travels be signed, but frankly, I’m not
sure I will use them. For closer up situations, I am likely just to use a compact pail (e.g.
Solari’s Miser’s Miracle) or metal utensil cup, etc., and either set it above the spectators' eye
level or cover the top with a napkin or let them hold it above their head.
For me, CLONK3
delivered beyond my expectations.
