Please let me start by saying that I am a magic nobody. Nobody knows my name really, and I am far
from famous. I have been performing for over 35 years now, and been to one magic convention; now you
know who’s talking. This is my take on BANDIT.
You should purchase BANDIT, but not for the
reasons you may be thinking. This is NOT proper street magic, as there is a HUGE preset that takes
TIME to get into, and no information is provided on how to cover this. This is NOT impromptu magic,
for the previously stated reason. What it is, is a beautiful teaser/tag (more teaser, less tag,
IMHO) to ANY close-up rubber band routine, most especially Crazy Man’s Handcuffs, for which it seems
to be perfectly and intentionally designed. I WILL be using this with my CMH routine from here on
in... as soon as I can solve the problem of the preset.
In the promo, Darryl Davis & Daryl
Williams (a.k.a. The Other Brothers), are shown performing this trick live on the street and getting
HUGE responses. Darryl (one of ‘em) is shown in the beginning presentment position, but never shown
getting into it, or recovering the preset after the routine is completed. As the preset takes time,
and must be covered somehow, I would have really liked to have seen this addressed; it is integral
to performing the illusion properly.
James Challeye (Spl?). Remember this name. He created the
vanish you will learn as a part of BANDIT. The vanish is worth the price of the entire trick, and
much, much more. Fair warning, once you’ve seen it, you can never unsee it, but this vanish is a
genuinely thing of rare grace and beauty. This is the primary reason I am recommending this trick
for purchase, and the sole reason for the five star rating; without the vanish? A 3.5.
BANDIT
is, overall, a very satisfying routine almost any environment or venue except impromptu or street,
UNLESS you are prepared to work out something to cover the preset, which you will see is of definite
concern, but definitely NOT a BANDIT purchase-killer, if only for the vanish.
If you do rubber
band magic, you definitely need BANDIT; if you do not do rubber band magic, BANDIT is a good reason
to start.
Hello Everyone
I didn't buy the trick
I don't know the "how" of the disappeared rubberband
I want to say a BIG THANK FOR TIMOTHY
THANK YOU TO TELL US
And it seemed that I released it in SPARK DVD PRODUCED BY MURPHYS by the name of JC James
I love creativity
I released magic very rarely because I really want to release original stuff
French Connexion james Chadier was my first Dvd produced by Mathieu Bich
I am a bit sad that nobody mentioned my staff but Timothy did
Thank You
All the best
James Chadier almost Challeye even if my nick name was JC James for the Spark DVD
I will be on the Porto convention to make a lecture and be a part of the show for the first time
Since 10 years where I perform for a Spanish convention
I will freak you I have new killer materials
Keep it up
Firstly let me assure Jaymous that James Chadier is fully credited and his vanish is fulsomely praised on the video instructions that come when you actually purchase this clever routine.
I would also like to disagree with Timothy who talks about a HUGE set-up which takes TIME to get into. There is a get-ready of three seconds at the most. It is easy enough to do but but it is better if this is the opening effect of your rubber band sequence. I think the Rev Timothy makes far too much of this and you shouldn't be put off. It is quite fair to call this impromptu, and I can't understand why he thinks this is not Street Magic.
I agree with chrisssomerville that the set up for this is not "HUGE" as asserted by the good Rev. Timothy Walker. Yes, their is a set up but it is minimal and any performer (street or otherwise) can easily get into this quickly with minimal cover or misdirection. With all due respect sir, if you have been "performing for over 35 years" then with a little imagination you can figure out how to get into this "right under the nose" of your spectator.
I also disagree with the good Reverand's assertion that "no information is provided" on how to get into the preset for this trick. Ample information IS provided and I mastered the technique within 10 minutes of practice.
I purchased this with the intention of performing it on the streets (impromptu) and cannot foresee a problem pulling this off if performed as per the tutorial.
I dont own this but the comments by Tim Walker that the get ready was left out of the promo vid, which as he states is very important,Along with the recovery is amazing. Im so tired of purchasing magic then finding out the trick looks nothing like what you thought because of these Dishonest promos videos hiding crap all the time just to sell their product,How About A Full Video for once from Beginning to End that doesnt leave out ANYTHInG! Thanks Tim i work hard for my money and wont be spending it on this Because of the edited video,Once Again Magicians tryin to trick Magicians for

Fireball, do yourself a favour and read my comment re the get ready. Yes I did purchase the effect and am very glad that I did so. Also, since when do promo videos show you the get ready???
Never???
I'm glad this review was posted. Without it I would have just started with this when approaching a group. The review made me try to do the set up with my hand in a pocket. So far this has gotten easier and faster with practice. I still bring out one rubber band and transfer it to the setup hand coming from my other pocket. The setup is almost
as unnoticeable as if I did it before approaching a group. This way I can perform this at any part of my set.
I agree with the reviewer. I bought this planning on putting it in the middle of a routine. The get-ready, highly recommended by both Daryl's, is a problem. No way this is equivalent to a sponge ball get ready as might be though by the language in the ad.
"SPECIAL NOTE FOR ADVANCED MAGICIANS:
If you’re familiar with ‘the sponge ball trick’ you know how powerful this premise can be. Also, if you’re familiar with THAT trick, you’re going to LOVE all the thinking and refinements that made THIS trick possible."
Great trick for an opener or solo trick. However, it should have been disclosed that some pre-performance set-up is required.
Hey guys! Wanted to talk about the get ready. In live situations i always find a way to talk and just get into it. I never open with this. After realizing thats not realistic for most people, we put some thought into it and the answer is an alligator clip. It makes for the worlds easiest steal at amytime. Hope that helps
On the fence on this one. The Other Brothers have been hit and miss, IMO mostly miss. My 2cents.
