Please let me start by saying that I am a magic nobody. Nobody knows my name really, and I am far
from famous. I have been performing for over 35 years now, and been to one magic convention; now you
know who’s talking. This is my take on BANDIT.
You should purchase BANDIT, but not for the
reasons you may be thinking. This is NOT proper street magic, as there is a HUGE preset that takes
TIME to get into, and no information is provided on how to cover this. This is NOT impromptu magic,
for the previously stated reason. What it is, is a beautiful teaser/tag (more teaser, less tag,
IMHO) to ANY close-up rubber band routine, most especially Crazy Man’s Handcuffs, for which it seems
to be perfectly and intentionally designed. I WILL be using this with my CMH routine from here on
in... as soon as I can solve the problem of the preset.
In the promo, Darryl Davis & Daryl
Williams (a.k.a. The Other Brothers), are shown performing this trick live on the street and getting
HUGE responses. Darryl (one of ‘em) is shown in the beginning presentment position, but never shown
getting into it, or recovering the preset after the routine is completed. As the preset takes time,
and must be covered somehow, I would have really liked to have seen this addressed; it is integral
to performing the illusion properly.
James Challeye (Spl?). Remember this name. He created the
vanish you will learn as a part of BANDIT. The vanish is worth the price of the entire trick, and
much, much more. Fair warning, once you’ve seen it, you can never unsee it, but this vanish is a
genuinely thing of rare grace and beauty. This is the primary reason I am recommending this trick
for purchase, and the sole reason for the five star rating; without the vanish? A 3.5.
BANDIT
is, overall, a very satisfying routine almost any environment or venue except impromptu or street,
UNLESS you are prepared to work out something to cover the preset, which you will see is of definite
concern, but definitely NOT a BANDIT purchase-killer, if only for the vanish.
If you do rubber
band magic, you definitely need BANDIT; if you do not do rubber band magic, BANDIT is a good reason
to start.

These Other Brothers are bringing us good stuff. Great stuff. They are practical, workers and easy
to do letting us focus on the presentation and the WOW. I watched the video 5 times refusing to
learn how to do the vanish until I couldn't stand it any more. It's so good it hurts! It works!
NOW - here's a blow away finish for this trick that they didn't mention as a possibility. Paul
Harris has an effect called SLR and you can (and should) get the DVD and learn the whole trick. It
comes with LINKED rubber bands as well as individuals. You can reuse them or give them out after
the effect. You can see the product on Penguin here: http://www.penguinmagic.com/p/1934
So - I am using the refill SLR bands for this trick. Follow the instructions given by The Other
Brothers but use Paul's SLR for the "Single Band in Hand" -- Vanish as instructed the other single
SLR band by the Other Brothers instructions. Now when spectator opens his hand THERE ARE TWO BANDS,
THAT ARE LINKED AND EXAMINABLE. PERFECT ending to any linking band routine you currently use too.
Tis is one DAMN GREAT trick and you should buy it and use it. Best ten bucks I spent this
year!

Firsty let me start off by giving you some idea of who i am and what setting this would be performed
in for my self.
I am a street performer from australia and have been making a living off
this for 6 years. Prior to this i had 8 years previous experience in magic and have become extremely
selective about the tricks i perform... that being said here are my notes and thoughts on this
effect.
This effect takes a classic of magic and makes it more modern and even practical
for todays magicians.
I perform shows of 100 to 200 people in a circle around me. So
typically i wont use an effect if it doesnt meet certain criteria.
-can it be performed
surrounded.
-can it be used comically or with extended performance.
-is it going to require
too much setup and or clean up?
-is the payout of the effect worth the risks of performing it?
And i can say every single bit of this criteria is met. The effect without revealing it is
fantastic and practical with high reward.
The two gentlemen who teach this effect are clear
concise and to the point. They do not over explain the effect however they credit any and all
outside influence which is nice. They teach this trick much the way you would learn it if they
showed you in person. The video and instructions sre easy to follow and they have a lovely presence
on camera.
I personally will add this to future routines if situation calls for a small
miracle.
Its definately worth taking a look at and i would imagine anyone who pays and
learns this effect they will use it as well. I think this will be an instant classic and much like
"crazy mans handcuffs" this effect will be something all magicians know in the future.
Thanx for taking the time to read and please do place an order fpr this effect its worth
learning.

There are a number of issues with this trick that make it not worth the time or money imo. The first
would be the fact that the vanish is NOT practical for most environments, if it works at all. I
perform professionally (over 300 shows a year) and would not attempt this in 90% or more of the
venues I perform in due to the nature of the vanish. And there are times when you will get caught.
This is mentioned in the video, and it's a major drawback.
Second, the reactions of this
are nowhere near the level of sponge balls and for anyone to even compare the two is silly. Sponges
are larger. They lend themselves to multiple phases and a climax. And the sponge rabbits are
adorable - rubberbands are not. This trick is just a quicky that gets a moderate reaction, even if
you pull off the impractical vanish. Spend your time and money elsewhere.

Bandit is a nice start routine for my rubber band set and take but a short set up. I've found
placing the load (set) on a piece of tape in my right front pocket work for walk-a-round going from
table to table. Do not over use it in a small room. I enjoyed doing it.

I liked the idea behind this effect, however, I found the setup difficult to do as part of a series
of effects. In addition, unlike a sponge ball routine where there can be many aspects of effects,
here the effect is done quickly and its over. I would love for someone to help routine this effect
as the method is ingenious.

First off let me say I would have given this three stars if not for the happy emoji that comes with
it.
Now for the review: When I bought this trick I was super excited and watched it
Immediately, but once I went to perform it I found that the load doesn't work if the PERFORMER has
smaller hands, so I wasn't able to do the super clean display of the rubberbands (which is what I
bought this for initially). The vanish was nothing new, I've honestly seen it done and tuaght before
hundreds of times however, it doesn't make it any less visual. It's popular for a reason. The
teaching was excellent, it was very concise and I loved their personalties.
In summary:
The trick doesn't work for me (a dime is the size of the tip of my index).

I do sponge ball magic all the time and I was totally fooled by the vanish and reappearance of the
rubber band in the person's hand. I was laughing at the explanation for the vanish and reappearance
because they are so simple. It is a fun, easy, and magical routine to do. It just takes a little
practice. Darryl and Darryl perform and explain the routine very clearly with a couple of other
simple vanishes thrown in as well. Highly recommended.

I was really taken by the true enjoyment these two had for
this effect. They presented it in a
real fun and enjoyable
way.
the effect is easy and fun to do. I've had great reaction
already. It's definitley at the top my rubber band list.

The brothers have brilliant concepts which work deceptively well in front of a camera, and certainly
one-on-one, but is not necessarily workable unless there is a very small group (if any) of
onlookers.(even with "audience management")
As a professional working pro table-hopping in
restaurants and bars, my repertoire (spanning forty years) must exist within the following criteria:
must be able to be performed close-up and surrounded with a quick (if any) reset; of course being
visual and a fooler, allowing for audience-participation goes without saying! (or does it?)
Unfortunately this effect meets only a few of my criteria.
Even with expert misdirection,
the "vanish" is risky; I would use a thumb-tip for this! I will also use parts of a Jay Sankey
effect for this, (involving two rubber-bands which eventually link and are given away as a souvenir)
but using the brothers' subtlety placing it into the spectator's palm. This subtlety is brilliant
and certainly workable!
In addition, the initial "get-ready" for this is tricky, and would have
to be accomplished undercover of one's pocket or close-up case.
All in all I WOULD recommend
Bandit, a clever and visual fooler!
