You get something like 4 hours on this download which is more than advertised , much of it being
around Peters philosophy rather than out and out performance.
When he does effects they're
generally not brand new but more old principles that he has added subtleties to. The best is
probably the addition to Lift which, although risky, is great fun and adds an extra layer of
mystery.
Some of the early effects in the lecture, like the ACAAN , don't sell well and
scream force and restriction to me. That they are so lauded says more about the soft "magician"
audience for this lecture who are prepared to accept convoluted methods for defining a choice. For
me, and it's not just Peter who does this stuff, picking a choice through complex numerology is
just naff.
And the card jazzing lacks real clarity for me and again suggests that some of
the presentations for a lay audience would be terribly confusing.
Some good nuggets and
subtleties but nothing terribly new..,and he is a bit of a windbag !!!
I agree. Sadly I think Pete has plenty of blarney, bluff and bs but it's not enough. We need some more solid routines, some effects that don't rely on the one recurring idea of 'be bold' and some preparation for explaining effects at this level. It's one thing when he baffles spectators with bs but it doesn't fly when it's a paid lecture to fellow professionals requiring some clarity.
