this trick is very well taught and offers many different ways to accomplish the same effect, from
easy to more complicated, all are good. You don't receive all of what you pay for on the DVD. Chris
ask you to email him with a disclaimer to get the rest. It's been over a week since I sent Chris a
disclaimer and I still have not received what I paid for. if you buy this from Penguin magic, do
not expect to find it in your, my Penguin magic box. no matter how many times that I have ask for
all of my purchases to be listed there, I've been told it's too much to ask for.
A message from Chris Philpott.
First, let me address why this user had to wait over a week for his bonus extras: about ten days ago we accidentally clicked the "Thread" button on our email service. This grouped all emails with the same subject heading together and, as it happened, nowhere near the top of our thread. Likewise all complaints that we were not answering emails were sent to the same clump. We just discovered the problem yesterday. The backlog was cleared up within a few hours. I am dealing with the emails where people ask more in-depth questions today and tomorrow. We have apologized to everyone who had to wait and will be emailing them a "thanks for your patience" bonus effect.
Second, every purchaser gets everything they pay for right away - it is stated on the DVD case (and should be stated on every retailer's website) that this release is an hour and forty minute DVD. It does not include rope, or streamers, or pearls, or ring and string, etc. But if you already have rope, or streamers, or pearls, or ring and string, you can start doing this right away. The gimmicks are all easily made (and not all versions even require gimmicks). The little extra mentioned on WPR is not necessary (I personally have never used it) but you might have one already and in any event, Leeman Parker comes in as a guest lecturer for that section to outline how you can quickly make up that gimmick (that could cost over $100 in magic shops) for about $5 with material from Staples. That info alone is worth a lot.
Third, the free bonus effect I offer to those who email me is the rope-through-neck effect. It is no more dangerous than the Tenkai rope through neck, or any other of the many versions out there, but times have changed. For a while I considered not making this public at all, but after consulting with two lawyers, I was advised to have people who'd like to see it warrant they are over 18 and will only do the effect as described. That's all EOMRT owners have to do, and I'll email them a link to the instructional video for free.
Finally, I have always included bonus material for those who register and it's proved to be very popular. A lot of the things I do are quite new and they tend to generate a lot of other ideas. For example, people who registered their 100th Monkey got a lot of free effects and handlings, like an awesome new effect by Joshua Quinn which Gerard Senehi performed on national television, a fun (though short-lived) "John Travolta" version where you took away someone's ability to read the name Idina Menzel, cards with shorter words suitable for children’s shows and many other things. All of it was sent out free. I expect there will be some cool new stuff coming out of The End of My Rope Trick as well.
There are not many magic inventors who give away as many free bonus extras as I have. So it irks me when I get anonymous comments like this "Why do these people want to rip you off... Absolutely wrong."
