I just wanted to offer a tip for getting Top Glide to work successfully everytime. I did it 3 times in a row today for the same group and they loved it. What I find works best is if you get almost ALL the stickiness out of the double sided tape. So prior to performance, press it many times with your fingers until almost all the stickiness is gone. During performance, squeeze quite hard, very firmly, so that you get at least a few seconds delay. It's better to have a card that shoots too soon than a card that doesn't shoot at all.
After squeezing firmly, I ask the spectator to place their hand above the table (face down), and I place the deck underneath their hand, (so there is a few inches space between their hand and the deck). If the card shoots right away, great. If not, you are in a perfect position to ask them to use their electric power, mind power, magic power etc.
