Paul Carnazzo usually puts out quality mentalism material. Emotive, where you guess the emotion
that the spectator is thinking about, uses the exact same methodology as his earlier product
Farmacology. That one had farm animals as possible choices. Judging from the lack of reviews for
Farmacology, I'd imagine that it wasn't a best seller for Paul.
The good news is that
emotions are a lot more interesting than animals. And with Farmacology, you had to print out your
own cards. Emotive comes with some nicely gimmicked cards.
And now my point of
hesitation. The system used, while clever, will take some practice. In fact, I don't think that
it's particularly user friendly. You have to intuit two different things, and then make sure you
interpret another factor correctly. And you have to exercise some audience management; otherwise,
your job is even tougher. It's not impossible, but a simpler method would have made life easier.
In summary, I think that there is a much easier way to do this effect. If you get Emotive,
you'll see what I mean and can adapt the routine accordingly to use a simpler method.
