I was provided a copy of this trick to review.
Rick Lax has a history of releasing products
that require the use of specially printed cards to produce a unique and impossible memento or moment
of magic. I have his "Contact" trick which gets tons of millage, so I was interested in checking
this out.
What you get: A deck of specially printed cards (on maiden back) so you can do
this trick and access to a video download. The video download is about 20 minutes long and goes over
a performance with the explanation of the routine and variations.
The Trick: Read the
description to see. The trick is not necessarily visual, however, the souvenir is distinct and
something that can be examined over and over. There are variations of the trick where the change
happens visually, so you can really take some of those sleights from your toolbox to apply it to
your performance.
You only need the cards provided to do this trick, so you do not need a
deck, and I would recommend not using a deck to keep things open and fair looking.
The
cards are needed to do this trick since the final products need to be examined. The signed version
is pretty awesome and will leave another awesome souvenir.
There are minimal slights used
and you will be able to perform this decently within the few minutes watching the DVD. There are a
few moments where you can mess up, but they are easily fixed with practice.
I do not have
many cons to say about this trick without getting overly picky, it is what it shows and it is
workable and practical. You need the extra trick cards, but then again, it is a trick impossible to
do without them.
Another solid release by Lax and everyone who helped develop this.

Pros:
Incredibly easy effect to perform
Gaffs do all the work for you
COMES WITH REFILLS
(20+ performances if you choose to hand out the cards)
Magic happens IN THEIR HANDS
Gimmicks
are well made and on Mandarin Back Stock
POWERFUL Effect for your spectator
Honestly
there are no cons to this effect. This effect is simple and to the point. Spectators love this
effect and it leaves them with an impossible souvenir. Pure magic. Special way for them to remember
you and relive that magic moment. Do not let the simplicity of the effect deter you. This effect
will not fool magicians, but why does that matter? We do magic for spectators NOT magicians. And
guess what? Spectators LOVE THIS! Worth the money if you like what you see, you will not be
disappointed! Well done Ricky!

So everything you’ve heard is true. Easy handling and clean up, and Rick does a great job with his
teachings of multiple handilings. Definitely a worker for a strolling magician or for multiple
venues, but I do magic at work, so I see the same people all the time - so a trick like this gets a
play and then I have to worry that coworkers will compare cards and lessen the impact.
My
only suggestion: make the gimmick with the additional pip in multiple numbers and suits, and maybe
even other Aces. It would be nice to have the ability to then perform this when working a room more
than once (safely).

This trick was MADE for a sleight to SHOW the diamond move. Jump!
Flicking the card with
your finger doesn't do the trick justice.
I'm no cardist, but I DO KNOW a twirl change, for one,
looks pretty:
Your right hand has a regular Ace -- diamond pip showing -- back to back with
the gaffed Ace WITHOUT the pip. They look like one card. held between the thumb and middle finger.
Twirl change these two cards as you gesture the cards leftward -- towards a Two in your
left hand, where the thumb had been covering the pip located near the far left of the Two.
You appear to "catch" the flying pip from the Ace ONTO THE TWO. Just lift your left thumb and
thrust out the Two as your right hand twirls the Ace.
That's one way to ANIMATE the pip.
Jump pip, jump!

Once again Rick is brining me cold hard cash to my restaurant performances with this amazing trick
in the form of “that was amazing, here’s a tip and thank you!”
Not kidding. Got the trick
yestrady afternoon and performed it that night.
Rick’s explanation and follow ups are
great.
Super video work!
Thank you so much for those 2 years of your life

If you are in need of a great closer or just a wonderful stand alone, this is the trick for you.
Rick Lax and his friends have created a true gem in 'Diamonds are Forever'. The handling is clean
and concise. The variations that are suggested are really good. The ability to work with gaffed
cards and still have a spectator sign the card is powerful and convincing. I also appreciate that
the USPCC has taken the time to produce such quality cards that match and can be included with my
daily use Maiden Back Bicycle deck (See 'Marked Cards').
The nuances taught in the handling of
this trick not only make this a great presentation, but are things that based on solid principles of
magic and psychology that you can use throughout your adventure into the world of magic. Rick gives
you straight forward, clear instruction and handling tips. This is a winner and I am integrating
this into my routine immediately. Check it out, I think you'll find it to be valuable and an easy
addition to your routine.

This is by far my new favorite card trick. I've been performing magic for 18 years, and by far one
of the best of its kind. The best part is, they get to keep the cards as a souvenir!I have
performing magic for my new friend at work for the past 3 months, including here then there, two
card monte, the biddle trick, bending a signed coin, even mint box, and after i showed her this one,
she said it was her favorite. Rick Lax has done it again!

You need this effect. It absolutely floors every spectator I have performed it for. You can hand out
both cards at the end and everything can be kept by he spectator. This truly is an effect that they
will never forget. It is not difficult at all to perform which means you can focus on your
presentation and make this beautiful.

I just recieved this and ohhh my goodness, it is glorious! As a card collector, it broke my heart
having to open this deck, so I suggest buying two. Simply stunning, from the tuck case to the
brilliance Rick has thought of in this gaffed deck. Simply amazing to look at and I damn near fooled
myself in the mirror! This basically does all the hard work for you. I look forward to the next deck
Rick, even though this will keep me occupied for a while. For the card collector out there, it is
worth the money just for this deck alone! Glorious!!!

Only 4 stars because the final [move] is very obvious and not shown in the demo.
