There were two reasons why I bought this video;
They advertised that there were new things here,
and
that this material was intended for trade shows.
Well, none of this happened.
When it came to news, there was not a single one. All that happened was that Osterlind talked
about the same things and effects that he has done in every single video since Mind Mysteries was
launched.
As for what should be trade show material;
I don't know what kind of trade
show Osterlind claims he performs for, all I can say is that no company in this country would accept
long drawn out, obscure features that keep the audience off the boot for too long.
Exhibitors on
trade shows' goal is to get as many people as possible to their boot and talk to them as quickly as
possible.
A program like this is definitely not letting that happen.
This video has
been called Richard Osterlind's Act
The truth is that it is not an act at all, with a beginning,
a middle and an end.
By contrast, a handful of effects are quickly found and completely randomly
performed.
The performance was obviously without plan and direction, indistinct, uncertain,
and difficult for the audience to follow.
There were times when I wondered about Osterlind at
all
knew what he was doing during this performance.
I would think that Osterlind could
benefit from studying Ken Weber's and Bob Cassidy's thoughts on performing
As the reader
will understand, this video is not recommended and I am considering asking Penguin to refund what I
paid.
I have a large number of Penguin's other videos, and overall I'm happy with most of them.
- but not this one, which is by no means worth the money.

To tell the truth, the show was at best a cluster. HE looked as if he didn't know what he was doing
or what part of the show he was at. I can't figure why he kept checking his breast pocket and left
jacket pocket. That was annoying. When he explained a center tear, the angle in which it was filmed
was bad. You couldn't see what was going on very well. And, you should buy some commercial stuff if
you want to do this stuff.
Sorry, but if I could ask for my money back I would in a heart
beat.

I will again sing the praises of the "Live Act" formula. I love seeing how a seasoned pro like
Osterlind takes a real world audience on a literal mind trip. How he interacts with and guides his
audience gave me alot of ideas for developing my own on stage personality ( even though I'm not
focusing on mentalism).
When he is teaching his act, he seems genuinely excited to share
the various techniques, he's not wanting to hold anything back. You can tell he genuinely likes Dan
and that helps him want to share even more of his theories on performing mentalism. There's alot of
GOLD in this lecture and I know I will be re-watching this one plenty of times.
The
routines I liked the best are his Spoon Bending (I've never been interested in this type of act
before... but now I'm thinking about it!), the watch / time routine, and the magazine test.

Although I had seen most of the routines before, this is worth getting because Richard Osterlind is
a living legend, who brings so much to his lectures and the mentalism community. If you use one of
these killer routines in your show, it will be money well spent. His book test routine is
particularly spectacular. I learned lots of new nuances. For example, I had just about given up on
using a gimmicked calculator ever again because no one carries a pocket calculator around since the
advent of cell phone calculator apps. Osterlind made my beloved calculator routine relevant again
with his ingenious justification. He's the man!

What a great lecture. Richard Osterlind is one of the best mentalist of all time. He has a grat
style and deep knowledge. In this lecture he shares his Professional act in detail. I really like
the act and learned great details. Thank you for this great lecture.

I've been a fan of Richard Osterlind for many years. I have most, if not all, his videos and several
of his books. Many of the effects he performed in this video I have on other venues. Here, however,
he goes into greater detail and gives out many valuable philosophies and tips. This is one of his
best works.

I own all of Richard's videos and was familiar with all but one of the 9 effects he presented, yet I
still learned so much from this Live Act (I really like this Live Act format). The performance alone
is a valuable tool in showmanship, audience management, and knowing what to do when things don't go
the way you planned. Richard shares way more than just how to do the effects. The focus on "trade
shows" was also refreshing, but most of the effects can also translate to stage, parlor, or even
walk-around. I give it a big Y.E.S! ;)

Richard is a great teacher of the art. I highly recommend this lecture especially if you are new
mentalism.

As usual, this was a great lecture of very useful material. LL

Osterlind is the top mentalist today. His approach is simple, direct and has a strong effect. And
his personality is well worth noting. He has fun with the audience but does not talk down to them,
insult them, or mistreat them.
A supreme performer.
