I read the description, and I thought "this seems to good to be true." When I received the book and
learned the method I was very disappointed. After rereading the description, it doesn't lie, but I
feel it is misleading. It implies they of think of any word on the page. Not true, you limit the
words they can think of, using a method a lot of book tests use. It also implies you immediately
know the word, you don't. I can't go into much detail without giving away the method, but you DO NOT
know the word they are thinking of, you make it seem like you do. I would recommend the great Gatsby
book test. Much easier, faster and cleaner.

You can NOT reveal the word without a LOT of pumping.
Ad copy states, “no fishing” not true.
“They think of any words they like”, extremely not true.
“Repeat with a borrowed book.”
NOT recommended
The only redeeming feature was the built in Hoy test.
I
don’t see myself ever using this except as a backup Hoy test.

Surely the physical book supplied with this effect/routine is a joke!
In may many years as a
magic purchaser I have never seen an item which looks so unfinished or rushed to market as this.
I am sure this is a method others have thought about using but realised its just far too
transparent so have scrapped it.
Whilst trying not to say anything related to the method some
things need to be singular not multiple as that gives the game straight away.
As the other
person said the Zandman book test is the same price please do yourself a favour and get that.
And if anyone from Vanishing inc or the other brothers read this - Do the best thing for this
and stop selling it as I personally feel it will damage your credibility - Honestly.

This is an excellent book test! Will it fool a magician? No. But it will fool ANYONE ELSE! Spectator
can choose from several words on any page - and you INSTANTLY know a ton of clues about their word
and can IMMEDIATELY start revealing them. PLUS - the book has a built in crib so there is no memory
work needed at all. NEW to book tests! This is a great one to start with. Have lots of book tests?
This is a creative one to throw on the stack - plus as a bonus you can do the HOY book test with
this and any other normal book

Had a lot of success with this book test so far. The fun has been in creating ways to reveal
information. I also appreciated the price and size of the actual book very portable and
inconspicuous when you put it to use. So overall I’m satisfied with this purchase. I’m also
encouraged to dig deeper and see what else is out there. Great stuff.

I didn't purchase this through Penguin but I feel it is worthwhile to take the time to comment on
it. The book test itself is a great value. Most book tests are way more expensive than this.
Besides its economical price, the publication looks fairly professional and is above suspect in my
opinion. The outside cover is simple but not out of the ordinary The layout inside looks like any
other book in this genre. A big plus for me is that it will fit in my back pocket or jacket pocket
so I can carry it easily. Finally, it is completely hands off. The reason I took off one star is
that you cannot divine the thought of word without some visual clues from the spectators. I prefer
nothing to be written down. The game changer me to this major flaw is that by using standard
techniques from other book tests, I was able to create a system to figure out the thought of word in
a seamless, un-suspicious manner in which nothing has to be written down or glimpsed. If you put a
little effort into this one you will get more than you paid for. If The Other Brothers had attempted
to achieve this final step, which is to create a totally verbal framework to reveal the thought of
word, I would have given it 5 stars plus.
OK, so this is not the be all, end all book test. It actually contains two methods, one is new--at
least to me--and the other is old. Actually, if this book only contained the old method, it would
still be a great value. The other method, while effective, doesn't really have any performance
advantages over MOABT or some of the other book tests out there. Sure, the Brothers talk about "no
fishing," but that comes at a cost using this method. I can't really divulge anymore, but this book
test plays more like the game of hangman rather than a true book test. And I am fairly unimpressed
with that presentation. I would probably do this in a different way, perhaps blindfolded with my
back to a white board where the volunteer writes the letters.
But, I must say, the quality
of the paperback is excellent, well worth the money. So if you are looking for a certain book test
utility (think Hoy Book Test), this is nice--and The Other Brothers' method is a bonus.
"Words Beyond a Book Test" is a great addition to your mentalism repertoire. Very subtle approach
to performing the word book test. It received four stars because you can determine the letters of
the word, but not the word itself without employing some guessing. However, the effect provides an
impactful result for most spectators.
