You show your spectators a ONE DOLLAR BILL. Fold it in half and it's still a ONE DOLLAR BILL.

Give it a wave and with NO FUNNY MOVES and WITHOUT LEAVING THEIR SIGHT it visually changes into a FIVE DOLLAR BILL. That's phase one, and your spectators already got their money's worth.

Fold it again and it's still a FIVE DOLLAR BILL.

But give it a wave... and WITH NO FUNNY MOVES (and AGAIN WITHOUT LEAVING THEIR SIGHT) the FIVE visually changes into a TEN DOLLAR BILL! That's phase two. Now they've seen the magic twice... with their own eyes. It would be safe to say they're pretty much addicted to you at this point.

Fold the bill again. It's still a TEN DOLLAR BILL.

Give it a wave and AGAIN it VISUALLY CHANGES, this time into a TWENTY DOLLAR BILL!

That's phase three. At this point your spectators have had just about all they can handle... their mouths are watering and they're only moments away from EITHER embracing you as a spiritual leader OR grabbing your TWENTY and running for it!

Before they have time to decide, you say, "Want me to make it a FIFTY?"

They can't help themselves...

"YES... yes... GOD-YES!"

You give the folded up TWENTY DOLLAR BILL a shake and it VISUALLY MORPHS into a FIFTY...

...A FIFTY CENT PIECE!

You hand them the FIFTY CENT PIECE and deliver the MONEY LINE:

"Don't get greedy..."

You'll see Danny perform GREED for real peeps ON THE STREETS of the GREEDIEST city on the planet. You'll sit with Danny as he shows you how he invented the routine (AT AGE 13!), and how he has refined it through thousands of performances over the last decade. You'll grab your supplies and build your GREED gimmick right along with Danny as he takes you step-by-step through the construction process. You'll learn the complete routine with all the subtleties in the EXPLANATION section. And you'll perfect the moves alongside our OUTRAGEOUS FIVE ANGLE REVIEW SECTION (the first in magic history). We've captured all the angles so you don't get a stiff neck.

The OUTRATEOUS FIVE ANGLE REVIEW SECTION features:

  • The Penguin over-the-shoulder cam (OTS)
  • The Penguin under-the-armpit cam (UTA)
  • The Penguin dude-on-the-ceiling cam (DOTC)
  • The Penguin from-the-side cam (FTS)
  • The Penguin food-in-your-teeth cam (FIYT)
Use the angle button on your DVD remote to switch between the angles in real time as you watch.

Here's the bottom line:
  • Money talks! Get your spectators' attention by holding up real money, something your spectators are familiar with and care about deeply. That makes a huge difference in their emotional involvement with the routine!

  • Money talks! With the kicker ending, you're cleanly setup to move into any one of your favorite coin routines involving a half dollar.

  • Money talks! With the "almost instant" reset, you can carry GREED in your pocket and be ready to perform it again by the time you've walked over to the next table!

  • Money talks! Greed is perfect for the business executive or salesperson who wants to break the ice at a sales call or meeting! Imagine making a presenation about increasing company profits and you start off by performing Greed!
A tip from the Pros:

GREED is a must-have routine if you're working for tips.

Here's why: GREED allows you to get a specatator to reach into his/her wallet and hand you money BEFORE you've even done any magic. Emotionally, that person has in a very real sense already given that money to you. Even though they haven't said you can keep it yet, the spectator knows that he/she may not ever see that dollar again, and he/she is OK with that... otherwish he/she would't have handed it to you.

So, to increase your tips with GREED, start the routine by borrowing a spectator's bill.

You'll have to do a simple switch. Danny just folds up the spectator's bill, puts it in his pocket and says, "Thanks". He gets the laugh and says, "Just kidding". Now he reaches into his pocket and pulls out the GREED gimmick instead.

In that one simple exercise he's increased the spectator's emotional investment in the effect AND made it much more likely the spectator will give him a tip. And when you've got a group of people around you, if one person gives you a tip it's much more likely that other people will tip you as well. If you work for tips, GREED won't cost you a dime. You'll have paid for the DVD in just a few days of performing!

FAQ

Q: My country uses bills that are different colors or lengths -- can I still do this? A: Yes, with minor variations. It is BETTER with bills that are more similar in color like US currency.

Manufacturer Says

Please note: GREED works with bills of many different currencies (Danny used to do it with Monopoly Money when he was a kid).

The key is that the bills you choose to use all have to be the same dimensions.

The color of the bills is less important. You CAN ABSOLUTELY use several different colored bills. The only difference is that with multiple colors in play you'll need to adjust your finger position slightly during the third phase.

nitial Thoughts: I have to admit that I was hesitant about buying this because I had heard that you have to cut up bills. Anyway, I had the money, and decided to give it a try. Boy was I lucky!

Teaching: Daniel Garcia is probably one of my favorite teachers next to Eric Jones and Jay Sankey. He speaks very clear and does mention everything you will need to know. There was only one thing I found that I didn't like. When he was discussing the making of the gimmick, about two-thirds of the way into it, he says something like, "Oh, and if you have a (I forget what he called it, but it was a paper trimmer, where you run the blade down the side of the paper and it cuts it perfectly) it will make cutting these bills easy, so you know you won't mess up." I would have liked it if he had mentioned that before hand. Minor issue.

The Gimmick: The gimmick obviously involves cutting up bills. Many reviewers have said that you have to cut the bill precisely in order for it to come out right. Well, that is true as with anything, I mean, you'd have to be blind or crossed-eyed (no offense) to not cut the bill correctly. If you are like one-eighth of an inch off, don't worry about it. Once you have the gimmicked bill set, I strongly recommend, as Daniel does, to practice the effect until the bill is fully warn in. It will be kinda stiff at first, but practicing will help that. Also, just because the bill is gimmicked, doesn't mean that the fifty-cent piece is not examinable at the end. It sure is! There are visual aids throughout the teaching as well.

The Reactions: Basically, when performed correctly, it kills. What I mean by correctly is, by being slow and letting the effect sink in. As with any effect, if you look nervous when performing this, you will screw up and expose the trick.

FAQ's:

Q: How much will the gimmick cost me?
A: If you make it right the first time, seven dollars. If you are like me however, and would like to save as much money as you can, you can photocopy the bills that you need and use those. Works good for me and I'm sure it would work good for you too.

Q: How are the angles?
A: Not bad, not good. You can't have anyone in back of you while performing the changes.

Q: Any specific lighting conditions needed?
A: Yes, you want to perform this in a somewhat dim area. Bars are great. Don't perform this while the sun is beating on you. Can't say much more or it may lead to exposure.

Overall: 5/5

Good, but there's a catch Report this review

I really like Greed. You can carry it in your wallet and with a very simple preset you can perform it almost impromptu. The effect is very powerful and visual.

The down side is you have to make your own gimmick (not that difficult) but you must get OLD bills or the gimmick doesn't work right. The new bills are all different colors and designs so it won't work right. I had to dig around for the right bills to build the gimmick, but Garcia's step by step instructions makes this pretty easy for most detailed oriented people.

I think the DVD is dated and a new chapter should be added about the new bills to help clarify for those users who may not realize the bills have changed so drastically. Other than that, it's something I have performed a lot and it always gets a great reaction!

greed is by far the most visual affect i have ever done, but it isn't as good as daniel gracia seems to make it. don't get me wrong, daniel is great and i love his tricks, but you cannot achieve the same effect he gets. the gimmick is extremely hard to make and the 20 dollar bill nowadays(in USA) isn't the same color as a ten and makes the trick even harder. i get good reactions, but the gimmick, which i worked hard on and took my time, is sloppy. i recomend getting greed, but take your time...i repeat take your time when making it.

I really wanted to like this, and I do, it is just not for me though. i don't know why, I just don't like it when I perform it. Watching garcia do it is like real magic. me, not so much. You have to build your own gimmick and I can't seem to get it right no matter how many times I try. I would have gladly paid a bit more for a quality gimmick to come with it.

Greed is great. so visual, and so easy(with practice). I never leave home without out. constructing the gimmick is hard to get perfect, so take your time. I must warn you though(not to give anything away) that it doesn't just cost x amount of money, it costs x+10 for reasons you will no if you buy the dvd. but don't let that stop you from buying. it is defiantly worth the money. Add to cart.

Daniel Garcia has some of the craziest ideas for magic effects, and he never fails or disappoints with any of his creations. Greed is incredibly beautiful to watch and just as fun perform the effect. Each phase builds up higher and higher from the phases before it, and you're guaranteed to watch the spectators hit the floor with each clean and magical pass changing the denomination, so incredibly clean that it really does look like real magic. And if that wasn’t enough, once you get towards the end and someone asks you to turn it into a $50 dollar bill, you just shake the bill at your finger tips and it changes into a .50 cent piece that NEVER FAILS to get screams of astonishment and pure, unaltered spectator reactions from witnessing the impossible, only to be told, “Now don’t be Greedy!” I love this effect, and if you are a fan of Daniel Garcia or just love magic effects with dollar bills, then this effect is for you and your spectators will love you for it.

This trick is really, really good. To us magicians it's really neat to watch it performed but it absolutely blows laymen out of the water. SOOO visual and stunning. Don't listen to the reviews that talk bad about it because of color of the bills. That doesn't matter. Just slide your hand over a little more for the 10 and 20.

The only downside is it is slightly angle sensitive b/c people cannot be being you or beside you.

Outstanding!! Report this review

Greed is an outstanding, visual, multiple phase bill change that will astound both laymen and magicians. The included DVD features Daniel Garcia doing a perfect job of explaining in full detail everything required to perform Greed like a professional. The first time I performed this for some people, their jaws just about hit the floor. The eye-popping visual changes from the one dollar bill to the five, ten, and twenty only built the anticipation and “greed” for the twenty to change into a fifty. Delivering that final line of “don’t get greedy” and producing the 50 cent piece was extremely satisfying. Greed comes with my highest recommendations.

Absolutely a great trick... Report this review

(This review is for GREED Starring Daniel Garcia)
Okay, so getting the hang of the trick takes about an hour of practice. If you are already good with a little bit of sleight of hand, then you can cut that time down to about 30-45 minutes. Don't get me wrong though, the sleight of hand is really not that complicated in this trick. Otherwise, the reactions you will receive are excellent. As of this evening, I took this trick with me to dinner and made a dollar bill float using an ITR. I then gave the dollar bill as a "tip" to the waitress. I waited about 10 minutes and then asked if the waitress would like to see another trick. I asked for the dollar bill back and then performed Greed. Her reaction, as well as those of the table next to us, were absolutely worthwhile. Visual and easy to work through, I would recommend this particular trick to anyone, from beginner like myself, to pro.

This is a great trick for any magician. It's angle friendly and can be simply carried in your wallet. Daniel Garcia is one of the best teachers i have found and he doesn't disappoint. He teaches you how to make the gimmick and adds in some humor to give you a good chuckle.

So if your looking for a great trick that will fool anyone, then look no further.
