"Royal-T" by Gordon Bean is a brilliant take on the classic Three-Card Monte. It is a
well-constructed routine with a solid three-act structure, perfect for strolling or mix-and-mingle
environments. It uses an unusual gaff you've probably never seen before. For this reason, it's a
shame you don't get a spare. However, this is the only bad thing I have to say about this release!
The trick begins with a simple game of Three-Card Monte. You show three cards: the Queen of
Hearts, the Three of Hearts, and the Three of Clubs. The spectator is asked to follow the Queen, but
you quickly transpose the cards, making it impossible to keep track of the money card.
Next, you make the Three of Hearts appear to jump from hand to hand. The spectator is convinced
that you're cheating but doesn't know how!
In the final phase, the Three of Clubs is put in
an envelope, the Three of Hearts is discarded on the table, and you hold the Queen. In an instant,
the Three of Clubs is in your hand, the Three of Hearts is found inside the envelope, and the Queen
is on the table!
The teaching quality for this trick is excellent. Nick Locapo does a great
job of explaining the method. The video tutorial is clear, concise, and easy to follow. However,
crediting could be improved; the gaff is original to Gordon, but the final phase was inspired by
"Now Look Here" by Chad Long.
Overall, "Royal-T" is a great magic trick. It is
well-constructed, easy to learn, and sure to impress your audience. I highly recommend it. I didn't
give it 5 stars because once the gaff wears out, you can only perform it if Penguin starts offering
refills (or if you buy another copy of the trick).

As a hobby's and someone who does enjoy a packet trick, when I 1st watched the demo for this, I
didn't think I would like it. Partly because I understood the method and gimmick. One of my biggest
problems is thinking about tricks from a Magicians point of view, instead of a layman's POV. This
is a habit I'm trying to break, and this trick exemplifies why.
This trick kills. It's very
easy, and Nick does an amazing job teaching it. The format he uses to teach this trick is something
I hope Penguin uses as a template for all tutorials. Showing all the moves without any breaksown,
then a break down of all the moves, then finally, a clean version with patter. Just a brilliant way
to teach a trick.
Now to the trick itself. The only thing I don't like is ending dirty.
That said, if you understand basic crowd control, this shouldn't be an issue. If it is, Nick
teaches a way to switch out the cards if that's something you're worried about.
I have
thoroughly enjoyed doing this trick and I think it's a 98/100 and the 2% off is because you end
dirty. A minor gripe is not including 3 ungimmicked cards, which wasn't a big deal for me as I have
a lot of spare cards, but I imagine some might not want to pull 3 matching cards from a new deck.
Again, that's only if you want to switch them out which I haven't had to do, but I'm ready to do so
if needed.
Hands down, this is well worth your money and time and if you put time into
learning the moves, which are really not even moves, you will be very happy with the results.

This is an excellent three card monte trick. It does leave the spectator’s jaw hanging open. Once
you actually learn it, the phases all work well together. However, the down side is this trick is
that it needed to be accompanied with written instructions, phase by phase. The video instructions
were “wobbly “ at best. So, I went essentially frame by frame, and wrote down the steps. You have to
learn phase one first. Then once you have it understood, move to the next phase. Even Nick was
getting himself confused.

This is a real fun trick. Products are good quality. Allows a carry in pocket, rapid 3-card monte
routine that quickly resets in its enclosed envelope. The move sequences are easy to master with the
good download instructions, but will require a little practice. Nothing the advanced beginner can't
handle.

It came today. I like it already. I followed a long with the silent part of the video tutorial
that Nick did and got it instantly. Nick is a great instructor. Hes easy to understand and follow
along with. If you like 3 Card Monte, you will like this one. I have two tricks from Gordon Bean so
far. This and Entourage. I like them both. I'm definitely going to buy more of his tricks.
Thank you, Penguin Magic !

This is a wonderful monte trick with only three cards. The routine has multiple magic moments, and
the final reveal is killer. The video instruction by Nick is outstanding, and the methods require
only modest handling skills (essentially no slight of hand). Great fun.

So as a fan of 3-card Monte, I have Skinners, Penguin, non-gaffed and others, I'll say that Royal-T
is right up there with the best. The cards and envelopes are high quality. The routine is solid.
The teaching is a bit quirky, and you really need to follow along closely to get the sequence and
cadence down. But once mastered, this is a really good trick. Easy-instant reset. Switching out
the cards at the end makes it even better for the grabby-hands syndrome, but then again as
magicians, we really should be managing our audiences and not handing out our props in an effort to
be proven wrong.
Overall Royal-T is highly recommended.

This is a great routine that flows nicely and makes sense. The presentation also has a few moments
that will surprise people familiar with Monte routines. Nick Locapo provides a solid tutorial that
covers everything you need to perform this—it’s relatively easy to learn and packs a few good
punches like a Monte routine should. I only gave this a four because I have other routines I like a
little more (Australian Aces, Clipped Scam). But this is still a great routine and worth the money
and time to learn.
