this is a great dvd for someone curious about magic. having said that it isnt very useful for
anyone who has any experience. but if you need a dvd to introduce someone to the basics...then
without question this is tthe right choice!

The trick selection on the DVD looked very basic. I was very disappointed. I mean, Magician's Force?
Come on, that's not even a trick, it's a method. Force and Reveal? Coin From Ear? Pretty lame
tricks.
However, I thoroughly enjoyed the DVD. Without a doubt, a lot of this material will
be used by me. The routines are effective and the performance video's prove it. It really reminded
me how these simple effects can be so effective with the right routine.
I would say the
format is trick, explanation, street/restaurant performance, and short essays. The first essay is
"What is Magic?" There is one on over coming nervousness, how to handle "touchy" spectators and how
to handle a heckler. Oz explains what magic is and what it is not. Perlman goes over what can go
wrong and how to recover, angles, exposed views, patter, timing, misdirection and a lot more.
To say there are 12 tricks is short-selling the material. There are multiple presentations for
many of the effects including advanced handling sections. You're getting a lot of really good
routines and a lot of additional information. Sure some of these effects are in Mark Wilson's
Complete Course In Magic (MWCCIM) but the level of detail is superior (in my opinion) than in
MWCCIM. You get to see a real magician, perform the effect to real spectators. In MWCCIM, not so
much.
Does MWCCIM have more material? No comparison, of course it does. But this is a great
magic primer with really good material. I don't think a beginner (or anyone) could go wrong. And at
the price of "free" I had a great time watching it.

Have experienced this difficulty with other downloads. With this download, it will not permit
moving backward or forward in the program. So if you wish to focus on a specific effect, you must
watch the entore program until you reach the effect you wish to practice. This is very irritating
and a failure with downloads. It is best to provide the effects on DVD whereby you can move
backward or forward in the program or provide the effect in print whereby you can easily turn pages
to review certain movments.

magicianĀ“s choice is worth the price of the dvd alone.

This is the best beginner DVD alright, I got it not too long ago so it wasn't really for me as the
material is quite basic but if a beginner asked me what would be the best first DVD for them self I
would defiantly recommend this! The material is great because it focuses on magic with different
props and the effects are strong so when you get those good reactions it gives you a boost of
confidence as well!

ok now to begin i will tell you that i got this dvd when it was on promotion for free. now knowing
that info here are my thoughts. first its taught by oz so you know its top notch in tha respect.
although i enjoyed this dvd and the effects since im not a true beginner i already knew most of the
effects but like i said for a beginner this will give you a great base of tricks to build off of. i
also recomend born to perform by oz pearlman. both are great beginner dvds.

It came included in some other things I purchased, so I watched it, and I'm pretty impressed. It's
certainly a beginner DVD, but then that's what it was meant to be. I especially like the concept of
teaching Jessie to do the effects, as it's a good method of relaying the information to the type of
beginner for whom this DVD was meant.
If you're new, or know someone who is, I would
definitely recommend this DVD. I think of it as a video companion to most beginner magic books such
as Joshua Jay's "Magic". It would go well with that type of illustration.
I would have
given it 5 stars, except I tend to believe that beginner's should be subjected to a bit more
hard-hitting material than is usually included in beginner type literature and instruction. There
are some very strong effects out there that never make it into beginner instruction, even though
they are extremely simple to perform well.

This DVD really does live up to it's name.
I have got to say this DVD is perfect! Even
someone like me who has been performing magic for 6 years or more can learn something new.
This DVD taught me things I never knew, plus it's a great tool to give to those younger
magicians who want to know how to do tricks.
