Wish I'd bought the brass version! Report this review

I've given 3 stars here as the instructions are fantastic and, as many have said, make the product worth the price in itself. However, I am very disappointed in the silver version gimmick. The washer is very thick and has a strange seem round the middle of its edge making it look like they're are two of them stuck together. Added to that, the rim of the washer in this version is a different colour to that of the poker chip. This might not be noticeable if the items weren't so thick, but any close inspection of these items draws a lot of suspicion, which is not what you want in a close up set.

Absolutely, Mark Would Be Proud Report this review

This is the first time I’ve bought magic because the trailer brought me to tears. The earnestness behind Matthew’s desire to make his friend proud didn’t strike me as a marketing gimmick, and if there’s one thing I’ve learned in 35 years of magic, it’s that earnestness is fundamental to creating wonder. And in this case, it does so in multiples. I’ve never owned a CSB set, but now that I have this, I can’t imagine doing CSB with coins. These props are so much more interesting and deceptive. I love everything about this, and I think Matthew should be very, very proud of what he and Mark have accomplished. What a legacy. Mark will be missed dearly.

Not impressed Report this review

Do you know when you have created something amazing, and then you try to improve it, thinking to do the creation a favor, but you ended up with a bad idea? This is, for me, what happened with the silver edition of brass button.
The washer is too shiny, the contrast between the gold of the poker guard coin and the other components is too evident. And I understand it depends how the trick is presented and executed etc., but yet again it doesn't look good. I am thinking of using an oil-based silver permanent marker to change the color of the edge of the poker guard coin. Overall, the quality of the props and components is far from great.
The video tutorial deserves 5 stars, but I am giving the props a generous 2. Not impressed.
