"Chris is the real deal. Original presentations that will grab your audiences and not let go. Highly recommended.” - Bob Cassidy

“Chris is a creative, original thinker and a truly great performer, his skills and talents mesmerised me. I highly recommend you all to see him in action.” - Uri Geller

"I'm a fan of Chris Rawlins. He knows how to create amazement and he will inspire you to do the same!” - Marc Paul

What will he teach?

In this lecture you will learn how to reveal numbers from a spectators credit card that you never see or touch - during part of an entertaining and playful routine. (Credit Guard)

You will learn how to duplicate a spectator's drawing under fire with Chris’ approach to the stage drawing duplication - this method is fail-safe, solid, workable and so simple. (REVEAL)

You will learn Hack - Chris’ approach to the classic Al Koran Newspaper Test - a no memory, very easy solution to Koran’s original Headline Countdown.

You will learn a direct, simple, but fooling, Lottery Prediction effect. (Lucky Lottery)

A beautiful and baffling thought-of name revelation that can adapted to all situations, where there are multiple moments of amazement for the spectator having their mind read. (Flutter)

Chris will also share Drop Card - a method that has literally limitless possibilities. The routine shared allows a spectator to guide another spectator to a thought-of playing card, whilst their eyes are closed and you do nothing.

Amongst the effects, Chris will touch upon why he does what he does, and he will also include other options and alternatives for the above effects. One example being, how you can alter his newspaper test to become a very fair and fooling newspaper prediction effect. He will cover how to stage his routines and how to get the most from the spectators on stage with you, whilst going into great depth when explaining each effect.

Chris loves people's input, he loves to answer questions, and once he has shared the effects mentioned above, and much more, Chris will answer any questions submitted in as great detail as possible.

Who is he?

Chris Rawlins is a 24 year old Professional Mentalist from the North of England who, whilst studying English Literature at University in York, realized that what he really wanted was to make a living from performing. Chris’ passion for Magic and specifically Mentalism has lead him to meet and work for some very interesting people over the past 8 years.

In 2010, Chris published his first manuscript Mind Experiments, with the guidance of Kenton Knepper, which received critical acclaim from the Magic and Mentalism community.

Since 2010, Chris has shared more of this thoughts in various forms. 2012 saw Chris’ release of Roulette, a book full of Mentalism routines and some theory that received great acclaim and comments from Bob Cassidy, Luke Jermay, Graham Jolley, Mark Elsdon, Marc Paul, Banachek, Peter Turner, Colin Mcleod, Chris Cox and Luca Volpe, to name a few. Roulette has since seen a second printing, been released as an ebook and also been recently translated into French.

In 2013, Chris spoke at the much respected Session Convention, about the release of his clipboard peek REVEAL. Luke Jermay said REVEAL was and is “the ultimate clipboard glimpse.” This, like the rest of Chris’ work, received fantastic reviews, acclaim and comments from the Magic and Mentalism community.

Soon after The Session, Chris toured Europe, lecturing all over France, the Netherlands and beyond.

2014 saw Chris release his first stand-alone DVD set with Vanishing Inc. Magic, Leading Thoughts. Featuring live performances of effects from Chris’ catalog, alongside some previously unpublished routines and ideas. Bob Cassidy, Luke Jermay, Mark Elsdon, Michael Murray, John Archer and Graham Jolley have all highly recommended Leading Thoughts, and it continues to receive great reviews on the forums.

In the past 5 years, Chris has gained a strong reputation for creating modern, unique and creative material. Currently Chris works full time as a Mentalist and Performer, entertaining the real world, and sharing his routines, methods and approach to Mentalism in the Magic world.

This is beyond bad.
He's unprepared, sloppy, nervous, uncomfortable, boring, and uninspiring.
Imagine Luke Jermay's worsening arrogance, without a fraction of his skill.

I'm also getting tired of these charity reviews.
Intentional, and not.
I don't ultimately care, if the guy that just wasted my money, is a nice kinda guy.
Let me restate my review;
This offers nothing.
It's bad mentalism at it's finest.

I wish everyone would give honest feedback more often.
Thanks to those that do. (and Penguin for sharing them)

Ciao!

Some Good Effects Report this review
Verified buyer Pro Privacy ON (login to see reviewer names) on March 9th, 2015
The Credit Card, Reveal and Newspaper Test effects have significant potential. Lucky Lottery was weak. It does not produce a lottery ticket, only the scratch sheet you use to select the numbers. Flutter is also weak and the routine was drawn out. There are numerous better methods to peek a name and even when you get the name, it is a "so what." There is no WOW factor. Drop Card is not strong because the method is weak - I don't want to expose the method here, but many top mentalists won't use this because people will talk after the show and the method will be exposed. This causes your reputation to go down after the performance, especially if you do corporate shows (which is the bulk of what I do). I gave it three stars because there were three effects that I thought have potential. On a positive note, Chris is likable and uses humor well.

A lot of people say mentalism is boring. Now I know why they think that. Because they were probably subjected to this type of mentalism. People aren't dumb, they know the props are gimmicked, just because they're not sure how doesn't make it magic. In all honesty some of these methods may be useful, but without a good presentational ploy they will be flatter than day old soda which is exactly how they are presented here.

Well worth the time to see a man who knows his craft Report this review

Firstly may I say it was an absolute pleasure to see and learn from this young man. His presentation style is engaging his pacing is excellent with a good flow. He was understandable and informative.
Why do I go on like this......Because I was viewing a lecture.
A series of demonstrations followed by instructions and insights topped off with food for thought.
When I pay to see a lecture. I expect a lecture and I certainly wasn't disappointed.
All of the material shown was workable an usable. To the lay person his work displayed the skills of a mentalist (perfectly believable) with no obvious gadgets.
His humour is subtle as is his character. Which makes him in my opinion more credible as a mind reader.
I found the subtitles he gave for the reveal for me made it, now 100% safe to use.
The effects have been discussed by others so I will bore you no further.
I would recommend this lecture to the Novice, the Intermediate, as well as the more experienced.
Another thing he brought to this lecture was a fair amount of modesty and
Sincere thoughts towards his supporters.
Yip I've got his DVD and Reveal. And would recommend them to.

Really great lecture I was surprised that there was explanation of Chris's marketed effect Reveal. also great idea of newspaper prediction using a lot of audience participation, so it seems much more bigger than just pick a word from page trick :) The trick with creditcard and envelopes in my opinion is very suitable for working in corporate gigs it seems more organic than most common version of russian roulette with nail under glass and end kicker with prediction is fantastic, all tricks performed were tautht in great detail :) Well done

Solid material and an engaging style Report this review
Verified buyer Pro Privacy ON (login to see reviewer names) on March 16th, 2015
I've just finished watching Chris' lecture and thought it was great.I first came across Chris' material in his Roulette booklet a few years ago. His material is workable, I found his style very charming and he's a very likeable performer. The effects I found most interesting on a personal lever were Credit Guard, Reveal and Lotto. People shouldn't underestimate the impact of this and not get side tracked with the whole 'it's not printed' story. Having only read the method for Reveal previously, it was a real bonus to see it performed by Chris and his tips on its usage really brought it alive for me (and also Dan's tip around the bulldog clip!)

All in all, a solid purchase for me. Would love to see more of Chris' memory performance material, but this'll keep me happy til then!

Sure Fire Mentalism For The Worker Report this review
Pro Privacy ON (login to see reviewer names) on March 10th, 2015
Hey all,

Wanted to give a few thoughts on Chris Rawlin's lecture. First off, Chris comes across as a very likable guy and is very engaging, which I think is more important than any "trick" personally. So what about the material itself? I'll tell you what.

Credit Guard: As the guy that handled the envelope and participated in the effect itself, I will say that it is very fooling. You can LITERALLY say that you haven't peeked the credit card, which makes me very happy because it frees up the internal script, the less lies you have to tell the better.

Hack: Personally, I love Docc Hilford's work on this particular plot and that will be the variation that I will continue to use. That being said, this is a very direct and clean handling and the staging of having the newspaper's under the chair and getting everyone engaged made me rethink how I go about performing this effect. If you're looking for a handling of a newspaper test that is extremely clean and impromptu then pay attention on this one.

Reveal: So as Dan put it at the lecture, "this is the BEST clipboard work out there currently," which I think is completely correct. This is a devious little method that allows you to peek a really large area at a moment that most people will forget even happened. I will be picking myself one of these very soon.

Lucky Lotto: Ok, so let's take a moment and I am going to tell you why I think the other reviewer are wrong...sorry, no rudeness meant, it's just I think if you believe the principle in Koran's Medallion is sound then you're just upset for the wrong reason.

Now that we have that out of the way...this is a startling and wonderful effect that I intend on using since American tickets are the same as British ones (SCORE!). This is wonderful and I am going to slightly adjust the method with a little know Peter Turner idea from his book Dare To Be Bold.

Flutter: This is a lovely little moment of mentalism, plus it can be re-framed to fit a variety of premises. This is more of a one on one or small group effect in my opinion, but that being said, it could easily be changed to play larger.

Drop Card: This really fooled me honestly and I smacked myself when Chris told us the method. This is a really really clever little visual piece of strange that I think gives a great justification to using cards and presenting a card effect as a startling piece of mentalism.

I am going to be playing with this idea a lot and if you're clever then the aforementioned issues with the routine's method can easily be handled to create an extra startling effect. I won't even hint what this is because it's not mine, but Karl Scott & Peter Turner will understand completely.

Overall:
Chris know the real secret to a great performance and I won't be mysterious on what that is...engaging people. I learned more about that from watching Chris than anything else. If you come into this lecture with a mentality of "I want tricks, I want tricks" then you should pimp slap yourself because that's not what our art is about, it's about the EXPERIENCE. That being said, Chris understands that and I really want to see him and Jermay live on the Sixth Sense Tour to experience their shows myself.

10/10 EXCELLENT WORK!

Great material Report this review

If you're serious about mentalism I really recommend this lecture. I think some people are missing the point here. If you're just buying a lecture to be entertained, go and rent a movie from Netflix. It's cheaper. But if you want solid routines, well thought out methods and real 'workers' you won't go far wrong with this. These are real world effects for real world audiences.

I saw many people moaning about Chris' style of performing... In my opinion he is such a nice man. Maybe his presentations are little specific but you have to remember that you should modify to make them fit your style.
Anyway Chris provides solid&simple methods that are surefire and I know that I'll give some of them a try.
What is more Chris is sharing his Reveal which alone is worth the price of the lecture. In my opinion it's the best low-tech real time peek.

The reason I'm not giving this 5 stars is because there wasn't anything that I haven't seen before.

And there are some moments that are just too long in explanations :)

All in all you can find here a few sparks and ideas that may inspire you somehow.
I really enjoyed watching the lecture.
And thank you Chris for answering my question!
