Dan Harlan dose it again. He took a lesson that can be a little tricky to navigate and presented it
in a fun, entertaining, and dynamic way. The lesson is split into two parts the first covering the
multiplying billiard balls and the second covering “A Mysterious Ball Transposition”. Dan presents
the multiplying billiard balls in two way, the first in a jazz influenced routine with patter and
the second is a music influenced routine in which all four balls change colors (as seen in the video
above). Yes magic with billiard balls takes work and time, as dose any sleight of hand act. As for
money, one can get a set for around the neighborhood of $12-$14.
The second part of the
video covers the transposition effect in which not only two balls but two borrowed objects change
places. Harlan takes this idea on big step forward with his Saturday night fever routine. During
this final routine, a Magic 8 ball lives up to its name and switches places with a disco ball. This
would be great for the right character.
All and all it was a great lesson, in an amazing
video series. So, if you like what you see above why not check out this video. I hope you enjoy it
and have a ball.

Nicely shot video and some great instruction but my annoyance was at how difficult the gimmicks are
to make and no simpler alternatives were offered. To obtain the tube Dan says "use this to do your
DIY and then use the empty tube." I live in a rented flat! Then he says to drill 4 holes in each
ball. What kind of drill? How about showing how you do that? So you need clamps and drills and
obscure tubes?! Shimani on his dvd shows holders with cardboard, plasters and coat hangers.
It would not surprise me if not a single person who paid for this actually made the gimmicks.
Much better DVDs on the billiard balls; Levent's Ultimate Guide To Billiard Balls. And also
Jeff McBride's fantastic Manipulation 3 dvd set.

I like the routine, my only problem is my balls have not come from Fakini yet, for now I can only
imagine.

I am up to Tarbell 31 now, and will just say that this and every other volume is superb. Dan Harlan
has done an incredible job of updating and breathing life and fun into the original Tarbell effects.
He is only in volume 2, I just hope he lasts for the next 6 volumes. If you aren't getting these
now, you are missing out on digital reference that may never be again be matched.

First of, I have to say that this course is amazing and Dan Harlan makes a very top job by teaching
all the stuff. Ball manipulation is really hard but the explanations are superb. I would like to
suggest one thing: what if someone takes the work of puting toghether the gimmicks needed for the
changin color routine? I would easily pay 100 bucks, maybe more, for them, because you need to be Mc
Guiver to construct all the stuff.

I have been working with Billiard balls for almost a year now developing a routine. If you are
interested in working with billiard balls expect to spend a lot of time, and money to make something
worth while. Any manipulation takes an enormous amount of time, practice, and dedication but has a
huge pay off. This I feel is becoming a lost art

Wonderful introduction into the world of billiard ball manipulation. Also has two routines where to
borrowed objects transpose on stage and an eight ball and a disco ball transpose. Nice thinking
behind the routines.
I think that this was an EXCELLENT video. I paid $10 for it on the "Cool Box" sale. What Dan does is
show you 3 routines which he's created, and then explains each routine in detail. I think his
explanations are very clear. He show you in detail how he constructed several props that he uses to
create his effects. One thing that struck me is the degree to which D.H. puts his own unique spin
on the effects, and therefore I think you're getting a lesson in, and look into the creativity of a
working artist who has the guts to be himself, take chances, and be himself. I learned a lot from
this video, as would I believe anybody wanting to perform this effect, even those who have been
doing billiard balls for a long time.
Dan Harlan does a great job, and it's clear that he has specific experience related to billiard ball
manipulation. However, these reviews are not just about the quality of instruction (with Dan it is
almost always top notch), but also about the material.
Frankly, I don't find billiard ball
manipulation deceptive or magical. Elsewhere, I have seen a few interesting billiard ball effects,
but not in Tarbell.
