Richard Osterlind built his legendary 45-YEAR mind-reading career performing these exact tricks, thousands of times. And today, he's sharing every little detail.

You could LITERALLY start your own career with nothing but what's taught in this master class. And if you're already a pro, then this course will pour fuel on the fire. Richard doesn't hold back. He teaches the material that he performs for paying clients TODAY. Not his "old set".

And there's no shortage of praise from pros.

"I have been a mentalist/magician working for 20 years. Anyone who is serious about there craft will buy not only this but the entire series. Great product worth every penny!" -Anthony Spinelli

"Listening to Mr. Osterlind is like listening to an old college professor who is skilled at breaking everything down. He helps you to grasp a better understanding." -Mister Xman

"I already have most of Richard's DVDs, yet I learned new things. Thank you, Richard!" -Bill O'Connell

"Watching this helped me with some issues I was having in my own routine I put together" -Nat Lawson

"Very thorough, taught at a good pace. You will need time to understand the reasons behind his method ,which he has mastered over the years ,and get the technique down, to where it is flawless. But I really think it will be worth the time spent." -Jeff Chambers

"I've done it literally thousands of times. I'm going to teach you every little detail about how to do it correctly" -Richard Osterlind

"His biggest gift may be his ability to explain in practical, down-to-earth language how to become a legendary mentalist." -Maxwell Murphy

For over 40 years, Richard Osterlind has been pioneering new ways to read minds, hypnotize, bend metal and more. He's considered one of the living legends of mentalism.

Aimed at serious students of the art, Osterlind's 13 Steps is a MODERN look at the fundamentals of mentalism based on Richard's lifetime of experience. It has some obvious similarities to the classic text, Corinda's 13 Steps, but is an entirely independent course based on Richard's own experience.

PROFESSIONALS: If you perform mentalism professionally, this is a must-have. If you wanted to introduce mind-reading into your act, there's no better way. Osterlind is a pro's pro.

Wow! What a great series! Osterlind is a fantastic teacher. This is totally worth your while to check this out. My only criticism in this lesson was that I couldn't quite clearly see what was being written on the billets. However, Osterlind's instructions were so clear that it wasn't too much of a hindrance in learning these moves. And because of that, this gets my highest rating. Five stars!

repeatation Report this review

if you have bought osterlinds' live this is a repeat and I guess 13 steps other than the hypnosis is also going to be a repeat I just want to inform this because I bought both so it was a waste of money. Its better to buy osterlinds penguin live rather than buying 13 steps for $19 each

Good Information, Truly just an intro Report this review

This looks to be a very exciting series. It's free so I really can't complain. Little here is new though it's the best teaching he's done on video of his beliefs surrounding the performance of mentalism. About half of this video is an introduction (sales pitch? which is totally fine) to the upcoming volumes of this exciting series. The second half is Richard sharing his basic philosophy surrounding the performance of mentalism. While everything is subjective, his advice is obviously proven through years of experience and it's hard not to understand and at least partially (or in my case just about completely) agree with his view on how to approach the art and performance of mentalism. Great release Penguin!

Dissapointed from Richard Report this review
Verified buyer Pro Privacy ON (login to see reviewer names) on September 10th, 2015
I hesitated before posting my thoughts about this step because I consider myself a novice in hypnotism, but I felt like this step was not worth it's money, to take such a big subject and to try to explain even an introduction to it in 33 minutes(that follows a 17 minutes of performance) is simply impossible.

Richard is clearly a professional, but I felt it was a bad introduction to the subject, I saw Addison(I know her name because he tried to show her forgetting her name and failed, as well as trying to force a leg jumping with someone else which also failed) taking this whole demonstration as a joke matter(and Richard did not notice she wasn't as suggestible), and it didn't feel like a good performance either.

Richard clearly knows his material but the explanation section was disorganized and lacking for me, he doesn't go through any subject deep enough or clearly enough and I felt key points were mentioned but only briefly and in a manner that anyone without a background on the subject would ignore, it felt more like a conversation with Richard where he just answers the question "how did you do that?", and not a well rehearsed and planned lecture.

I think anyone new to hypnosis would probably think that you can just go out and be a hypnotist with only learning how to do the Hand Clasping test, and the "Discuss" section at Penguin shows that as well.(people asking "wait where was the explanation?", "Does anyone else know much about inductions? He doesn't really go over any in the video...")

Did Richard share pragmatic advice? Yes. But I thought this whole step was not a step at all, but a conversation off stage with someone who is telling you "get this book and learn it from there"(Richard mentions "The New Encyclopedia Of Stage Hypnotism" as a thorough book on the subject). Now obviously this is way too big of a topic to cover in 33 minutes of instructions, but that does not mean that it needed to be such a short step, if Richard really felt that hypnotism should have been included in his 13 steps he should not have made it such a short step, he could have even split it into 2 parts, but the 33 minutes of explanations you got are disorganized, lacking and don't stress any point hard enough except the hand clasping test script.

Afterall we all respect Richard for his contributions to the art, but this step was not worth my money, I am the target audience for this kind of step, and not experienced hypnotists, and I feel like the value I got out of it was not worth the discounted 14.9$, if I could get my money back, I would.

General Reading Report this review
Verified buyer Pro Privacy ON (login to see reviewer names) on August 7th, 2015
This is a good lesson in how to give a reading--but not a cold reading as it is sometimes understood to mean using clues from the person's appearance (except the hands). Osterlind explains how to use jumping off points to structure a reading. The reading is not tailored to the individual. Nevertheless, Osterlind has good ideas for how to do a generic reading anytime, anyplace.

This was a great presentation. He has done a masterful presentation of two of his all time favorites and they are terrific routines! The details are of course the important part and he has addressed them with care and experience.

I get it! not the important stuff... Report this review

I love Richard Osterland and most of what he has produced, but the attention paid to the gimmick in this download is way, way too long (reminds me of his "Bank Night" opening routine opening one of his instant downloads where he just goes on and on and on.

I love the swami gimmick. I am developing a lot of misdirection techniques, how to write in true folds of paper (not a corner - which seems so obvious as well as unusual to write on the card corner).

What I was hoping to see was much more method and technique. What has he developed and tried that sucked for him? What (throughout his thousands of shows) always works? Etc., etc. Very disappointed the ID did not contain much more of that type of thing. That's what I want to learn from a seasoned master mentalist.

The swami gimmick writer is an absolutely amazing tool that by no means is "on its way out" (as another review wrongly suggests). With brilliant misdirection, well thought-out patter, etc., you can produce miracles that blow spectators minds at a moments notice.

Long live swami gimmicks and modified and new methods/technique to continue to produce incredible amazement!

Excellent Mentalism With Cards Report this review
Verified buyer Pro Privacy ON (login to see reviewer names) on May 15th, 2015
Richard Osterlind explains his ground-breaking break through card system, which is easily worth the price of the download. I already use it, but still enjoyed the refresher and appreciated Richard's handling tips and effects. It's hard to go wrong buying anything that Richard Osterlind produces.
