I'm upset there's a cut in the trailer there's something that happens that you don't see in the
trailer that if I would have seen it I wouldn't have bought it. This part that they took out needs
justification to be in the routine (that's probly why they don't want you to see it in the trailer)
if you can justify it wich he dose teach how then your good the effects works. I did it and it got
good reactions. But if your not gonna justify it good they won't be fooled (they won't know the
exsact method but it'll be like "ok you did something with THAT")
Also for myself I know
other mindreading effects that are cleaner nothing to justify cheaper and don't need refills. Go
learn "the perfected center tear" from Richard Osterline that one you can do twice in a row on the
same guy this one you can't they'll catch on. 3 stars because it dose work

I can't add much that hasn't already been said. I don't appreciate the editing done on this promo.
It promised things that it couldn't deliver and I almost returned it for a refund. However, as i
took the time to watch the full hour long instruction video i realized that this effect has great
potential. As a stand alone trick I feel like it is ok. As a utility device however I think it is
very powerful. Currently i'm using this in a two phase effect with iPredict and Invisible
deck...but really the possibilities are endless. I gave it four stars simply because it's not what
the demo video presented it to be.

What's important to know about this before buying is that it works. You have everything you need and
more to do some impressive, no-touch peaks.
For me, it's impractical. It requires three
separate components to work, and it feels unnatural to do in an impromptu situation. For non
impromptu situations their are far easier gimmicks to use. Like impression pads and what-not.
It works, it's just not worth the pocket space for me.

I received this as a free promo item from Penguin. Before opening the package, I watched the
complete instructional video. Now, I wish I could return it. Unopened.
For some this may be the
Holy Grail. But for most, this can't hold a candle to Matt Mello's "Dark Arts," which unlike Steam
2.0 CAN be repeated without giving away the whole trick, DOESN'T require special (costly) cards,
envelopes, pen and handling. Far easier to do, far less likely to fail and it costs only $10! It's
the same trick, with the same (apparently) components and same results!
No, Steam 2.0 is only a
shadow of Dark Arts, and not nearly as much carefree fun to do. I gave it two stars for the unique
"chemistry" it uses.

So first i'm upset of how much the video was edited. At no point do they show the fact that you have
to reach back and touch the paper touch that touches the card again.
Secondly, i have only
been trying this out on magicians to make sure the effect works. THE GIMICK ONLY WORKS ABOUT 70-80%
OF THE TIME. Also do not use the bill method if you are going to leave the bills in your wallet for
any period over a day, it will not work at all and some of the envelopes simply do not work at all.
i have tried the envelopes 10 times, and twice it completely failed, another time i only got a half
reading.
Great idea, but without some forturne telling fish or dollars, you have very
little chance of finding the proper motivation to use the gimmick.

Why oh why do we still allow false videos to sell magic???
You CANNOT perform the effect as
shown. The video cuts out a very important part of the presentation making it look like a miracle.
So I got sucked in and bought it then had to watch as the instructional video shows what you
ACTUALLY have to do and it makes the effect far weaker and not very logical. There really needs to
be a re-thinking on allowing deceptive videos...just sell the trick on its actual merits...why do
magicians try to con fellow magicians???
The principle itself is very good and can be adapted to
a number of presentations...the fish one included is actually better than the deceptive one on the
video because you can do what you need to do in a LOGICAL way as opposed to the original effect
shown. Kudos to Penguin for allowing honest reviews...good or bad.

Technically it is a very interesting idea, but know that the demo videos are a little misleading...
so is the statement about never touching their billet. It's true that you never touch it, but the
technique requires creative thinking to get past an awkward moment.

I performed this to my friend and he is not easily fooled. He racked his brain trying to figure it
out and he could not. If you perform this right, it really slays people. I was a little sceptical at
first, after having seen the whole performance unedited. A lot of people on magic cafe complained
that the promo was a bit deceptive and didn't show everything the performer does in the routine. Had
I seen the whole unedited performance, I may not have bought it and I was able to get an idea of
the method seeing the whole routine, but performing to spectators will get great reactions.

But not really the best. A part of the trailer was cut out If that part was not cut out, I would
have seen it all and not want to purchase this. However, if performed well, effect is impactful and
mind blowing.

This is really an incredible feat . Spectator takes card , writes what they want and keeps it under
their hand . Yet , to their surprise , you the magician calls out exactly what they put on the card
.
Fits in your pocket . No strings , magnets , special give away moves .
This is
brilliant ! The kit comes with everything you need to perform this miracle many many times .
Everything is covered , and you are given so many routines with this wonderful gimmick .
This trick is worth 5 times the price , and is so well thought up , that this may as well be
Gold .
