This is the only Eugene Burger book that I've read and own, and based on this book alone, I feel that everything written by this man must be owned and cherished. Mr. Burger has some amazing, thought-provoking essays contained within this book. The tricks are okay, but you're going to want to pick this up for the essays and ideas that Mr. Burger brings up. The book differs from many magic theory books in that it doesn't really give you any definite, concrete answers about what you SHOULD be doing. Rather, it brings up a lot of questions and things you should consider in your magic. I literally picked this book up and could not put it down. Highly recommended to the reader who wants an enjoyable, thought-provoking read.

Eugene thinks so deeply about his craft and his performances, and it shows in everything he does. When I first got this book I literally could not put it down until I finished it. It is THAT good! Eugene challenges all of us to think about the tricks we do and how we can be more than just tricksters, but modern day magi. Our craft has been trivilized to the point where mimes get more respect that magicians. If everyone heeded Eugene's advice, magicians would be thought of as more than just bumbling fools.
