Most of the DVDs and videos available today are based on the books collecting dust on people
shelves. You will be able to gain an understanding of how true magic works by reading the works of
the Masters.
You will be able to do almost every type of magic if you read and practice
what you find in this book

This series in my opinion is up there with the royal road to card magic as a must read for any
magician that's starting out. There are tons of basic techniques you can build on. I love this book
and I plan on getting every volume.

Up to now I had always preferred dvd over books. After reading the first few chapters I realised
how much I had been missing. Learning the history of magic and Tarbell idea's of magic as a science
full of principals opened my eyes and made me rediscover magic all over again. This book includes
step by step instructions, easy to understand pictures, patter and the reason behind effects and
methods. I highly recommend this book to anyone wanting to become a magician and not only someone
that does tricks!
I delayed and delayed to buy these books. Yes, a video is easy to learn from, BUT all the
fundamentals and origins of "new" tricks are from these volumes. The first chapter of Volume 1 is
great; the history, psychology, and the art of magic is explained. I got my money's worth from the
first chapter and everything in this volume can still be used to this day, but most importantly, you
can learn the philosophies and techniques, then apply them to your own imagination. You don't have
to read it from front to back, rather, read the chapters that interest you. Buy the complete set, I
did, and don't regret it.
Hi. This is your official PenguinMagic reviewer, B_Magic!
I'll be honest...people told me
about Tarbells and I saw them around for years before I ever picked up the series. This is one book
series I really wish I would have listened to all the people who told me to get them earlier. This,
besides perhaps a couple of key books (like "Royal Road" and "Expert Card Technique") are THE BEST
books in magic that I think just about anyone even thinking remotely seriously about magic should
own. The books are THAT good.
I won't say they are the easiest books out there to read, and
there are more than enough challenging effects contained within the books to keep you busy for YEARS
if you want. The books can be a slight challenge at time for sure. I found books like "Now You See
It, Now You Don't" and "Royal Road" to be a little bit easier to grasp as a beginner. That said, do
NOT let that deter you. These books are prized gems, and should be in your library.
In the
day and age where everyone is into Instant Downloads and home video, it may be hard to purchase
books to learn magic. If there are any books you should have and are thinking of getting it's first
Royal Road to Card Magic and Card College. These would IMMEDIATELY follow those books. And if you
are a seasoned magic vet and don't own these yet....ADD TO CART.
It's a great investment.
