For the magic / pocket space ratio, the answer is YES. This is the only card trick I carry on me at
all times. It fits in my wallet and I barely notice it's even there.
Pros:
- Gimmick
has no moving parts or anything that could break. If it wears out, refills are cheak
-
Routine is modular and Steve teaches like 10 phases. While I think 10 is a bit much (and I think
Steve's routine only is maybe 5 phases), knowing that you have that many phases to pick and choose
from and construct a routine is wonderful.
- The routine is extremely visual and extremely
deceptive. There's a version where you end completely clean. It's a thing of sheer brilliance
Cons:
- Gimmick may wear out over time. But as I said, refills are pretty reasonably priced.
There's really nothing more to add. The trick looks as good on video as it does in real
life. It's 99.99% angle proof. It end's clean. Instantly resets. Takes up little pocket space. A lot
of fun to perform. What can I say, it's one of my favorite tricks to come along in recent years.

I was amazed when I saw the demo for Steve Valentine's 3 Card Routine, and I didn't hesitate to buy
it shortly thereafter. The DVD and instruction is great. I think Steve provides 4 or 5 different
versions of his routine and the step-by-step instruction is incredibly helpful. Some of his moves
take a while to master, but as with most things in life, anything worthwhile will take some
practice. 2 sets of gaffs are included (a real bonus in my book) and they're incredibly clever and
well-thought-out. You won't be disappointed.

I absolutely love this, the moves are not difficult but this is a gem that I will not perform until
I feel that I am 100% comfortable with the entire routine, the DVD quality is excellent and I feel
that this is priced just right.

I'm a woman who likes to do card tricks. And I have small, doll-like hands, to my utter frustration
when attempting to do some sleights. Regardless of how long I practice or how mechanically well I
do them, there are some that just require either large man-hands or a bridge deck.
Enter a
fantastic routine like Steve's '3'. Every single bit of it I can do, even with my tiny baby hands.
And it looks stellar. The end is a killer. It requires almost no practice for about half of it,
meaning you can perform a lot of the routine right out of the box, and a few hours of practice for
the rest just to get it polished.
It's worth every bit of the price. I'd pay just as a
donation to Steve for his genius. He deserves every penny for the thought, care, and pure
awesomeness that went into this routine.
If you're on the fence, heed the words of everyone
who has ever left a review on this product. BUY IT.
I have been working on this trick for two weeks now, trying to perfect, fine tune, Valentine's slide
move. This is a simple looking special move you have to be able to do in order for this card trick
to come across properly. I know this may sound silly to some of you, but the move strongly depends
on the length of your middle finger!! Steve Valentine has LONG fingers, especially his middle one,
just look at the video! That advantage makes the special move VERY easy. If your fingers are not
long you will have trouble doing this one special move, and you probably will not be able to do it
perfectly. This is a great routine, somewhat over priced at $50 though, but it is worth owning. Just
remember what i said about finger length!
One of the best things I've ever watched.
The routine he teaches is brilliant but the way
he teaches is what makes everything so special! All the extra ideas on top of that and one of the
best gimmicks I've ever used makes this an easy recommendation.
I love 3 card Monte routines. This one will take some time to get it just right, but when I am ready
to share it with others, I know it will be a hit! Steve Valentine is a great thinker and this
effect is a winner for me.
I arrived late to the table. A few other magicians were circled around as Steve was introducing the
cards to the group. What then followed was, by my eyes, nearly impossible...correction, utterly
impossible. The classic 3 card monte re-imagined, displayed and executed flawlessly. The "money
card" was vanished and manipulated by his agile fingers. my gaze was only interrupted for a second
as I turned to someone next to me asking "what the...?". Each phase perfectly scripted, and bloody
brilliantly executed. The finale leaving, as was initially introduced, 3 individual playing cards on
the table, then scrutinized by the other conjurers present. Without any exaggeration, I had to have
this, and literally thrust a fistful of dollars at him craving the effect.
3, is an
amazing effect for the worker, or the hobbyist. The DVD itself is clearly filmed and the detailed
explanation by Steve Valentine will leave little question as to his ability. His teaching methods
are clear and detailed, all delivered with the charm of the man himself. Each chapter intuitively
laid out and filmed in multiple angles to best convey and instil the method. The additional
routines, add-ons and suggestions will help you, the student; achieve the results promised in little
time. As per what else is packaged, that you will have to discover on your own. I would suggest
picking up this gem and eagerly tearing open the cellophane.....then again, I probably shouldn't,
and keep it just for myself.
This is the best packet trick I've ever seen- if you want to call it a packet trick. Seems so much
more.
I love Monte tricks. Greg Wilson had an excellent one "stand up monte" that is absolutely
amazing. mark mason has a version he teaches in his lectures "my favorite card trick" that is also
very good as well. and the School for Scoundrels (whit hadyn, gazzo, chef anton) teach the classic
handling of the three card monte so well. It is classic magic at its finest.
I think Three by
Steve Valentine is the best of the bunch. Unlike the other monte routines, it does use a gaff but
what a beautiful thing it is. And you can end clean. Its not too hard to do and it just is one of
those mind blowing tricks that just rocks!I carry it in my wallet with me and I'm always ready to
put on a little show.
It is pretty easy to do. Steve teaches the slights well. And He is one of
the few magic teachers that doesn't put me to sleep.
I Love 3......
I own many packet tricks, twisted sister, NFW, various 3 Card Montes, Oil and water, you name it I
probably own it but this is by far my favorite. 3 is very interactive, fun to do, Modular and looks
impossible! I bought this the day it came out and I am just now writing a review:
Steve explains
every move thoroughly on the DVD, it can be done as you like 3 Phase or 10+ phases I would give most
of the packet tricks I mentioned a 4/5 but this is so entertaining and fun I would rate this a 10/5
it is worth every penny! As the saying goes, "You get what you pay for" I would have paid more for
this. this is a gem and not something that you will never use.
