This is my first Devil's Hank purchase. I've wanted one for quite some time, but could never decide
on a particular hank to buy. I thought I knew how the hank was constructed, but have learned that
there are differing concepts when it comes right down to sewing the hanks together.
This
"corner" version is very well made, aesthetically pleasing, affordable, and will do what its
intended to do. . .though, not in the fashion I was expecting. I was hoping it could handle some
"weight" since I want to use it to effect a switch (transformation), and if you are content to only
hold it by the "corner" after vanishing something in the realm of 1/4 lb.+, it would work well. If
you want to stretch the hank between two hands with a weightier object within, you might experience
some sagging at the top of the hank as the gimmick is made, by gravity, to hang down one side of the
hank rather than distributing the weight evenly between the two hands at that point.
Perhaps I'm needing a larger hank, or one with a different gimmick design? Maybe I need a whole
different approach to my issue than a Devil's Hank, though I like the idea of the hank very much.
I'm thinking that maybe a Devil's Hank isn't the best solution to my problem, or at least, not this
one.
Additionally, I'd prefer to be able to load the hank from the side rather than the
top after forming it into a "bag" because my hands are large and it's difficult to get my hand in
and out of this hank's gimmick in order to effect the transformation (placing one object in, and
removing a different one). This problem is likely peculiar to me alone, and would not present a
problem for those who simply want to vanish a small object. For that purpose, I believe this hank
will serve me well. It's a nice size, and I like the fabric, but in order to do what I need it to
do, I may have to have one made especially the way I require.
In summary, for the price,
this is a really nice hank, and I feel that most will find it quite suitable. Just make sure that
the "corner" version is what you're truly after.
