I have peformed the haunted key early on in my magic career and had great reactions. The most important concept of this trick is to have good patter to go along with it. The key is fully examinable but it would be best to have the audience examine the key beforehand. THe quality of the gimmicked key is great and will no dount last a lifetime.

The Haunted Key is difficult, and easy...depending upon how you work at it. Variations in placement can be 'key' so experiment. If you find that one placement-of the key in your hand-does not work well, for you, try another placement...backwards, upside down, or whatever, from what the instructions suggest. You can perform close up, fully surrounded, with little practice, and repeat as often as you wish with instant reset. Pass the key around, to be examined, and the secret will go undetected. Key needs to be positioned on your hand so it doesn't look like you are moving your hand to make it look good. Try different positions. It fools my friends.

The secret behind this is so clever, and the effect looks amazing, as if it's moving on its own. It involves NO magnets and no strings or glue, FYI. Examinable before and after and nothing to hide. Its only downfall is it looks very old fashioned and outdated, but then again, you can use to your advantage by crafting some 'haunted house' story behind it.
