Tommy Wonder is a legendary close-up magician whose influence on close-up and stage magic spans over 40 years. He is noted for many celebrated close-up effects, most of which have been published in his seminal work, The Books of Wonder, along with original diagrams and prop descriptions.

One of Tommy Wonder's oldest and best-known effects is The Two-Cup Routine published in 1977 (Original Magic from Holland), 1983 (Tommy Wonder Entertains) and, finally, in The Books of Wonder in 1996.

The Two-Cup routine has been honed for 20 years, and finally made its mark in the history of Cups and Balls. It has a poetic mood, superb technique, and perfect misdirection.

You probably haven't seen anyone do this before other than Tommy Wonder, and one of the main reasons is that it's hard to find a perfect set of cups and bag.

After substantial research and development, Bluether Magic now offers to the magic fraternity, with permission of The Tommy Wonder Estate, an exact replica of the props described by Tommy Wonder for use in The Two-Cup Routine. Knowing how important these props were to Tommy Wonder's routines, we have reconstructed the props for The Two-Cup Routine with the utmost care and detail.

"This is an impressive set. The cups are petite enough to be used anywhere, yet have a very pleasurable and solid weight in the hands. They are well balanced to allow any move you can think of. These cups will last for more than one lifetime."
- Tom Stone

LARGE BLUE POM-POM:
  • The large blue pom-pom is made to The Books of Wonder's exact specifications with a precision-made clasp used to attach the pom-pom to the bag, allowing for the quick release required by the routine.
EXQUISITE PACKAGING & TUTORIAL:
  • Bluether Magic has been granted the rights to produce the props, but have not been granted the rights to the routine or to provide an alternative routine. Bluether Magic has secured with the permission of the owner of two original videos taken at the 1985 Illinois and 1989 Japan original lectures by the fabulous Tommy Wonder in which he demonstrates the routine and explains some of the moves and the psychology behind the moves. This wonderful material, in conjunction with the information in The Books of Wonder, will allow the owner of these fine props to present the amazing Two-Cup Routine.
These are the only props licensed by The Tommy Wonder Estate for The Two-Cup routine.

What are the NEW FEATURES and UPGRADES of 2.0 version?

CNC CUPS:
  • The cups are now being produced using a CNC process. CNC is an acronym for Computer Numerical Control. This is a process which uses a computer controlled metal removal system. This is a highly accurate manufacturing process which results in identically produced output (cups in this case). This eliminates the ridges on the inside of the cup adding to a nice smooth interior.
NON-REFLECTIVE MATT BLACK:
  • To eliminate the reflection issue, we make the inside of the cups non-reflective matt black, which also let the cups look more beautiful.

Great set of cups! The bag is a little too small but no big deal.

I collect Cups and Ball sets and have to say that I love love love this set of cups! If you’re a fan of Tommy Wonder and you have the funds, I can’t recommend it enough. I received them a little over a week ago and have been practicing the TW routine every day and am pretty close to having it down. Well pretty close to having it down while practicing… as most of us know performing for actual people adds another level of difficulty as nerves and stage fright kick in. Still I’m so happy with this purchase. The cups are great and the 3 orange balls are perfect for performing the Wonder routine. The bag is definitely smaller than the one he uses but it works well and the blue pom is the perfect size for a surprise load.
One word of caution that I’ve sadly learned the hard way is that when reattaching the blue pom to the cord, don’t screw it on too tight. Of the 100 or so times I’ve practiced this now I’ve managed to strip it and the pom would no longer stay attached. To be clear I blame my own handling and not the design for this and just wanted to add this as a word of caution to anyone who may be purchasing this. I’ve glued small magnets on both the cord and the pom which actually works perfect for the quick release, but won’t look as good or convincing when reattaching it between phases. Still, this set gets a 5 star recommendation from me!

I don’t write reviews often, however this time I felt compelled to. I wish all magic purchases were as great as this. The cups are great and have a bell ring to them which lasts a while if you tap the cup. The cups have a black finish on the inside. Time will tell how long this finish lasts. I would prefer no finish but it doesn’t look bad. The sock is well made and the pompon comes off within a 1/4 twist. The little pompoms are well made and everything was packaged nicely. I think Tommy Wonder would be proud of this set.

Ce set est vraiment magnifique, le matériel est d'une très belle qualité, je suis vraiment très satisfait du matériel reçu. Seule critique négative, pour ceux qui n'ont pas l'explication en détail les liens fournis sont un peux pauvres...

OK SO it was hard to figure out how to word it but here I go.
I ordered my from TCC, but thought to leave a review on here as well.

Overall Scores

Cups - 75%
Bag - 80%
Poms - 65%
Instructions - 20%

Score Break down

All right for the price and what you get. A solid 100%

The cups are pretty decent overall. Just some nice Brass cups. They fit really well overall. I'll give them a 75%

The bag is shorter than the One in TW's routine but that works in its favor as it is in a way sleeker than the longer bag he uses. But I am not a fan of the drawstring. I'm always afraid it'll tear it if I use it.
The original routine has a long cable on the bag so when he unravels it in a kind of flourish way, it draws attention to it and demonstrates that the pom at the end is securely attached. This can only be accomplished if you use the drawstring.
But again the bag was redesigned to streamline the effect. It makes it easier to load the bag without it coming out of the sides. Which can happen with the TW size bag.

The gimmick on the Drawstring is pretty good. I do wish it was a little thicker tho. As it would give a better overall appearance to the audience. Because in their mind. A thicker piece would appear harder to take a part secretly.

The Pom on the bag is not as plush as the one that he uses but not bad overall. It can appear a bit shabby at times and you may need to clean it up. But not bad overall.
So the bag overall I'll give it an 80%

The poms you use in the routine, I'll give the same points as to the pom on the bag. So I'll give them a 65%

Now the instructions. This one is an issue. I know they could not secure the rights to the L&L instructions. So they offer a lecture recording. The issue with this is that it skims over a lot of important detail. It's taught pretty vague and not all the way through. He goes over the steals and such but the routine you'll have to learn from studying his performance.

If you can spring for the books of wonder (you'll thank yourself later) or the L&L videos. They will help a lot.
So I'll give the instructions 20%
