Review:
When I first saw Lloyd post his BlackPool 2023 video, the one trick that
completely blew me away and had me searching all over the internet was this. I purchased it
immediately once I found it, actually finding him on Facebook and asking what it was/where to
purchase. He was very kind, and immediately informed me. He himself is very very kind, and has the
upmost professionalism and customer service.
So how’s the actual effect?
Unfuc*¡ngbelievable!
This came out in a time when I was surfing all over for a single
page book test. I liked the premise of Will to read, but I like doing an index version of the free
Will plot, using clip switch, so it didn’t really work for me. Craig Petty’s gossip is great,
beautiful, but just doesn’t fit my style. EDCeipt had also just hit the market a few weeks before
and I was waiting to see what people had to say.
Then I saw this, and omg, I love it so
much. Maybe it’s cause I’m a movie buff myself (making me bias) but this is a near certainty perfect
effect to me.
For starters, it’s straight fire mentalism. No fishing for anything, and
brilliantly enough, you legitimately don’t know who the person is till right before you revel their
name.
The method is so clever you’ll have plenty of time to work on your presentation, and
if you’re good at cold reading, you can extend this out, giving letter by letter and because it’s
such sure fire, the cold reading isn’t hitting, no biggie, you revel the celebrity. He also teaches
one behind methods to revels much more than just a celebrity, as well as adding more spectators.
I do not leave home without my mag switch case by Patrick kun, and this folds up nicely and
fits perfectly in my case. Same goes for a wallet, but was just filled me with joy knowing I could
add another effect to this case.
The instructions are 4 hours long, with time stamps. A
lot of magic projects I’ve seen make this mistake of not adding, making it impossible to rewatch and
navigate. Which I’m sure you’ll wanna rewatch. after all, it’s a LOT of information broken down.
He goes over everything you need to know. Teaching you how to get through the effect with
ease, sharing the things he’s learned through performing. Like how to pick the right spectator, and
giving you scripting to make sure they’ll selection process will be smooth and speedy. However, even
the 2 times I’ve had my spectator literally take two mins to scan through the movies and list of
celebrities, they actually reacted the best.
The page is so well made, feels exactly like
a page you would get from a magazine, cause it is one. You get three, and later down the road you’ll
be able to buy replacements. But I’m sure each page will get you 300-400 performances.
The way I’m finding my self perform it, is with some kind of electronic watch, setting a time as
a prediction. Having one spectator pick an actor then the other come up with a fake movie tittle for
said actor to be in, this is taught by Micheal. Asking them what time the movie starts at (setting
the watch on the remote) then reading their thoughts, mixed with cold reading. After telling them
the fake movie, actor and reveling the watch, you have the kicker ending of the influenced thought,
if your cold reading messes up.
There is no negatives I can think to this effect, he goes
through everything. It goes with me everywhere I go. Today’s day and age any group of people you
will find a movie buff, not one group that I’ve brought this out for hasn’t had at least one
spectator that I can use with the page. And everyone else can get involved in other ways.
I can not rave enough about this. Get it right away.

This is a great, practical effect. Very strong and I will be using this

I can tell they really put a lot of thought into making this trick. Plus, it is small, and easy to
carry and allows for a routine that can take several minutes. So, it is ideal for doing a strolling
magic event when your pocket space is limited.
Ironically, the demo video doesn't even
show one of the better endings to this trick. There are multiple endings to this trick, and I think
some are better than others. (The spectator does not have to pick Tom Hanks.) I mention one of the
alternate endings in my story below.
The only downside to this trick is that on rare
occasions the spectator does not follow the instructions correctly. I have not personally
encountered that problem even though I have performed the trick many times, but I did have one
occasion where a spectator picked an actor that was definitely NOT in the movie that the spectator
had selected. Fortunately, I was able to jump to one of the optional reveals at the end of the trick
and show the audience how this was an interesting experiment, if not a successful mind reading.
The video adds a lot of great additional ideas, and I used two of those ideas to perform
the routine that I describe below.
The following is a true story that happened to me while
I was performing close-up magic for a corporate event at the Marriott in Plano, Texas. The people
were seated at very large tables and I approached a gentleman at a table to perform this trick. We
will call this gentleman. "John".
I asked John to look at the page and select a movie. I
then asked him, "Were you thinking of The Matrix?" He couldn't bring himself to say yes, but it was
obvious from the look on his face that he was most certainly thinking of The Matrix.
I then
instructed him on how to pick an actor or actress from the list of 30 names on the sheet.
As I went through the alphabet I stopped at the letter S and asked him, "Were you thinking of
the letter S?" John said I went past the letter he was thinking of.
So, I turned to the guy
who was behind me at the table, and I asked him, "Are you friends with John?" When he replied, "No"
I said, "Oh, that's unfortunate. I seem to be having trouble discerning what actor John is thinking
of. I was hoping you might be able to tell me what actor John is thinking of." The guy said, "I can
tell you that. John is thinking of Morgan Freeman." John's expression changed suddenly from a smug
expression to an expression that looked like, "I can't believe this is happening. How did some
random stranger know that?"
One of the spectators on the other side of the table turned to
John and asked, "Wait. Were you thinking of Morgan Freeman?" Maybe John was still in a state of
shock and that's why he couldn't bring himself to say the word, "Yes," but he sheepishly nodded his
head up and down as if he was confessing to some kind of a crime.
At that point, the
entire table erupted into applause. I dropped my business card and left. I was originally planning
to do another trick for that group, but I realized I couldn't top the reaction I had just
experienced. So, I left people at the table to wonder how a stranger had just read John's mind.
Be sure to watch the entire explanation video, as this technique is hidden in the video
towards the end.

Designed to look like a page out of in-flight magazine (and it does), this tool will enable you to
read the mind of a spectator, and tell her what celebrity she is thinking of. You could play it as
magic, pure mind reading, or the art of influence. A great deal of design has gone into “the
reveals“ that are hidden on this page. They are a bit reminiscent of mad magazine (for those of us
old enough to remember folding the back cover). While these are good, they will not leave your
spectators, believing that it was a page from in-flight magazine. Not to worry, though, as there are
dozens of other presentations on the online video directions, which are over three hours long! I
recommend that you watch them all. Taking a page out of “ the definitive mental mysteries of Héctor
Chadwick,” there is a great stage presentation, in which the page from the magazine is fashioned
into a paper airplane. There is some very simple fishing. but your audiences will never suspect it
and you will most likely have fun doing it. Watch the directions before doing anything. The effect
comes with online instructions and three copies of the page. Get 4 refills, make 1 into an airplane
and put the other six in every magic, wallet, and sport jacket you own! Recommended.
