As a working pro, stick with a Kennedy box or Clarity Box..much less to hide..
As a working pro I would think that you would be pretty good at "cleaning up"...especially when the gimmick is hidden in plain sight...on the back of a card box...puzzling?!....now if your box looks like a ring box or something a little gimmicky, I could understand....but a card box?..just put the damn thing in your pocket!...I'll send you the bill later...LOL!...All the Best, Don P.
I couldn't agree more. I am also a working magician and this is way subpar when compared to a Clarity Box or Mystery Box.
DONP2011 is probably invested in trick. I totally agree with you Michael that Kennedy and Regal put out far superior versions of this. I pass out the clarity box all the time and it always fly's right by. You can't do that with this and the angles suck compared to the previously mentioned boxes.
Everyone knows a clear box being used is the magicians gimmicked apparatus. Not to mention the overpriced cost for these cheap made boxes. I'm referring to Kennedy & Clarity boxes. If the so called pros would stop to consider that a card box is less suspicious than a bulky clear box, maybe you'd reconsider using this and notice the amazed reactions!
I'm not invested in this project at all. I think it's very smart.
Is it overpriced? Yes, as is standard for magic effects. Is it as durable as custom made gimmicks with rigid plastic? Nope. But this is the most organic folded card to visible impossible location I can imagine. All you need is a table-like surface. The cleanup is easy. Just don't flash the bottom of the box. Easy peasy. Honestly, with a little bit of no-brainer customization with a red marker, you could safely quickly flash the bottom. Just start saving your card box cellophane, and you can perform this all the time.
Any time you introduce a custom made object, it makes your magic feel less fair. The standard cellophane that every participant is familiar with is as organic as it gets. Props to Nick for making this. It's a clever solution.
