I broke two of my personal rules with "Black Flag." The first was "Never purchase an effect just
because you're curious about the secret." And the other is "Never post a review of an effect you've
yet to perform."
I'm glad I broke the first rule, as it was well-worth the $10 for
something I will actually use. And I'm breaking the second rule because I think I can add things
that the promo video and text do not.
First and foremost, while this is presented in the
promo as a card divination, this can also be used as a force, which is how I will use it. (How many
of you just roll your eyes whenever a magician holds up a deck of cards and says, "Say stop whenever
you randomly choose."?)
I wasn't blown away by the divination routine presented, which is
why I gave it only four stars. I'm not sure how I will add that "wow" factor, but I can definitely
see combining this with an invisible deck or any number of other effects.
Another big plus
to "Black Flag" is that two methods are presented. And they are indeed distinctly different methods,
not just two variations of the same thing. The first method uses a move that I'd rate a 2.5 out of 5
for degree of difficulty (about same difficulty as a DL.) And the other method is only a one at its
most difficult.
Good work Lewis Le Val! That was $10 well-spent.
