His act is old-school Vegas, with plenty of not-funny, not-respectful humor.
Beyond that,
there's perhaps five minutes of actual performance and another 15 minutes of warm up and non-magic
that's hardly worth learning because, as I said, he's a bit of a jerk.
Then, the
explanation begins with tons of biography and other non-useful filler. It turns out that in real
life he's not a jerk, which is nice to see, but more filler.
And finally, the actual effect
he accomplishes after all of this isn't nearly as amazing as the preview video would imply.
Disappointing.
"Not-funny, not-respectful humor." This review is not-helpful and not-respectful.
Did it ever occur to you that real people read your reviews and that your nasty words can offend and hurt ... that you're the one being non-respectful? Is that your intention?
Most magicians need to learn more "non-magic" like building rapport via the "non-useful filler" Gerry uses in his act. The amateur magician who only wants to see new tricks and brand new techniques for accomplishing old tricks will never become an entertaining magician.
"Jerk?" is that really a kind thing to say?
The performer who sticks to doing tricks and never establishes himself as a unique personality is forgotten. Any strong personality has it's lovers and haters. Try please everyone and you please no one.
As for "not-funny"critique, keep in mind it's only not funny to you, as evidenced by most of the crowd laughing. Gerry has been and continues to be in demand & kills with this act.
