OK, so this is not the be all, end all book test. It actually contains two methods, one is new--at
least to me--and the other is old. Actually, if this book only contained the old method, it would
still be a great value. The other method, while effective, doesn't really have any performance
advantages over MOABT or some of the other book tests out there. Sure, the Brothers talk about "no
fishing," but that comes at a cost using this method. I can't really divulge anymore, but this book
test plays more like the game of hangman rather than a true book test. And I am fairly unimpressed
with that presentation. I would probably do this in a different way, perhaps blindfolded with my
back to a white board where the volunteer writes the letters.
But, I must say, the quality
of the paperback is excellent, well worth the money. So if you are looking for a certain book test
utility (think Hoy Book Test), this is nice--and The Other Brothers' method is a bonus.
