Holy crap! I just memorized the entire Mnemonica stack while working on my computer (watching Rick's
video in a small window)!
In less than 90 minutes and with no pain whatsoever, Rick has
singlehandedly upped my magic game to a whole new level. Everyone knows that Juan Tamariz is a
genius... but when he gave the world Mnemonica deck, it divided the magic world in two... those who
can and those who can't use it. Even professionals like Justin Flom couldn't handle it well.
Thanks to Rick, learning the deck is EASY and literally almost INSTANTANEOUS. Seriously... this
is absolutely a must-have. I'll give you an example right now... as I am typing this, I'm going to,
off the top of my head and with no forethought tell you a card and where it is in the stack, as well
as tell you what card is at a specific place... I promise, this is not thought of in advance... I'm
writing as I think. Ok, here we go....
3 of spades and #6
3 of spades - 21st card
in the mnemonica deck
The 6th card is the 6 of diamonds
2 hours ago, I didn't know
that. But now I instantly know that the Ace of Spades is in the 7th place and that the 10 of
Diamonds is in the 49th spot.
Seriously. Why are you still reading this review? GO BUY IT
NOW!!!
(man, I hope I got all the cards right or else I'm gonna be embarrassed... but hey,
I literally just finished the video so not too shabby)
Rick does a fantastic job of
teaching and Jamar's drawings (the same guy who does all the drawings for Penguin) really help us
visualize the memorization aids.
If anyone is a fan of the show "The Office", Michael Scott
uses the same type of memory aids. Offensive, but it works. haha!
Rick's method is not
new... I learned this method years ago when Kevin Trudeau taught it in his Mega-Memory course. (I
didn't have the whole course... but I did have a cassette tape that was like a free sample. Yes,
cassette tape. If you don't know what that is, ask your parents.) But I didn't really use this
method much. Now, I kick myself that, after all these years, I didn't use it more.
Thank
you Rick for this. This is a significant, influential, mile-marking product. I mean that with zero
exaggeration. Awesome stuff! You're my hero. Change your address, because I'm guessing that there
are now some high level pro magicians who will want to make you disappear aftr leveling the playing
field by putting Mnemonica within reach for everyone magician.
This product retails for
$40. You can get it for $20. I would easily pay $80 without a second thought, being that it makes so
much different to my magic skills. I'm just learning... but this opens a whole new world of
Mnemonica to me. Thank you, thank you, thank you Rick!!!
As you may know, I traditionally
do not award 5 stars to a trick unless it is extremely visual. This product isn't even a trick. So,
zero stars.
Just kidding!!!
10,000 stars! I give Rick the highest possible rating
for this, which unfortunately is officially 5 stars.
(By the way, I always try to be honest
and straightforward in my reviews, while being respectful to the magician. If you appreciate my
reviews, can you please click the "Yes" button below beside the question, "Did this review help
you?" It's not like I actually benefit in any way by your clicking it... but it would be nice to see
if my reviews are helpful or not. I hope they are. If you ever have suggestions or comments or
questions about my reviews, please feel free to leave me a constructive comment. I'm just trying to
be helpful. I love the Penguin community and hope that I can someday contribute my own product. :-)
Thanks for reading and for any (hopefully positive, but either way, at least kind) feedback!)
By the way, I repeatedly referred to the mnemonica as a deck, when it's really a stack. I know better... dunno what I was thinking when I wrote this. I asked Penguin customer support to change this wording before it was published, but alas, I think the ball was dropped. So...
"mnemonica STACK"
Ok. I'm done.
Get Rick's product. It's awesome.
Haha thanks Arthurzinho...
To be honest, if you are not fluent and comfortable with English, then this may not be as effective for you. There are many references that an English speaking person is more likely to get. So pop-culture and US history references are made as well. Can it still work for you? Yes. But it will be more of a challenge. However, of you are not familiar with the memorization technique Rick uses, you can still learn the principles and create your own memorization system for mnemonica (or really anything else that can be memorized in list fashion) for yourself in your language. In fact, why not do so and sell it on Penguin? ;-)
I could write my own review but i'd be saying exactly the same thing as Warped Mind. I had tried to memorize mnemonica numerous times. I had it memorized years ago but lost it after having not used it for awhile. It is engrained in my memory forever and ever, of that I have no doubt. I started using mnemonica everyday since I learned doing various routines. THank you so much Rick Lax for doing this project. I can understand what you meant about people giving you grief when you released this. You made it so easy for me.

Once you know the method, you could certainly adapt it. After all, this is just an application of some well-known principles. Some people use this method regularly... but you will definitely need to put some thought into adapting this and also lots of practice until it becomes second nature.
