I hate deceptive advertising. In the trailer Rick clearly says:
"When someone names a
card, that card they named will be in the poker hand ..."
THIS IS NOT TRUE. It is one
outcome (not even the most likely outcome).
What he described would be a miracle. It's
not in the written description perhaps because he hopes we will forget what he promised in the
trailer.
I am not saying this is a bad trick. I actually may have even purchased it if
correctly described.
I just feel he doesn't need to outright lie about what the effect is.
The ad shows somebody picking the 9 of Diamonds and that is the only face up card with a different back. This has to be great!
It works about half the time, but there is an "out" that turns the tables. I am super relieved when someone actually calls an exact card, which is actually less than half the time, but the "out" evens up the playing field - though lessens the effect.
I can't agree enough with the misgivings uttered here. Penguin is a great website and stands or falls, given the way magic is purchased, on truth in advertising. I have to believe whoever elected to try and sell this trick again knew it was once again going to invite critique. There ARE good tricks. THREESUM is a good trick. This is sort of okay. No trick that needs an out HALF THE TIME is worth the trouble. Come on.
on't know how to do it. But penguin magic is tricky and about 80% or more in my opinion are not considered tricks. I bought Volume Numbers from Peter - Mentalism... I want to see these owners translate into Portuguese... They are getting worse and I've changed the site and much cheaper.
I completely disagree with this negative comment. Any five cards constitutes a poker hand. I love this effect. It gets great reactions.
The multiple out often gets a bigger reaction than the spot on. Remember, they are the mind reader here, not you. Larry Becker said he preferred the off by one outcome and had a better audience reaction. So it all depends on how you play this. Follow the script exact and it'll play well either way
