Penguin was helpful and accommodating as always when I had to ask for a replacement for this. But in
an effort to save them the trouble and others the money, I'd suggest avoiding this. Both times this
product failed to work. The thumper appears to charge and it provides haptic feedback when turned
on. However, the mechanism in the cup either fails to charge, fails to recognize the magnetic force,
or fails to transmit an effective signal.
Like a lot of Nishiguchi's products, this is
hand-made and looks it. The rough look doesn't inspire a lot of confidence in its durability. Maybe
the mechanisms have deteriorated over time? Additionally, the Mickey Mouse cup design won't appeal
to serious mentalists and how many kids shows include a heads/tails routine? (The creator painted
the inside of the cup, couldn't they have just done the outside too?)
But none of that
matters if it works, right? For me they didn't. I tried different distances, magnet strengths,
switched out the components, etc. Bummer.
