This is yet another trick where my hands simply aren’t physically right for the trick to work
optimally. I have no problem setting up the key as instructed, but when it comes time for execution
the best I can get is a key that limply rolls along my palm /fingers to one side or the other. It
won’t, um, “stand to attention” (do they make Viagra for keys?). It looks OK, but not nearly as
impressive as it should. Plus it was impossible for me to execute the necessary flexing movements in
a subtle manner - I REALLY need to stretch to get any movement.
I have tried various
locations on the palms of both of my hands, but it seems that my skin is too loose to get the
necessary tension when flexed, probably because I lost a significant amount of weight a few years
back. I was going to give this three stars but decided to be more generous since YMMV. In my case my
M had more V than I would like to perform this convincingly or comfortably.
Also, it would
have been nice to receive a duplicate ungimmicked key for handout/inspection, although the gimmicked
key can be handed out quickly/casually before performing the illusion and perhaps only the most
observant onlooker will notice. However, a more exact matching duplicate would be nice to hand out
to the anyone who insists on seeing it after the trick is done. The Ilco key Dan recommends does not
match closely enough to me (heavier, chrome vs matte, big logo on key, etc.). Maybe Penguin could
sell the duplicate for $5 (the blank probably costs 50 cents or less in bulk)?
