Anyone who is a good storyteller could make a miracle out of this effect. I am going to use it for
my presentation about Hope and Hope theory. Think about it in this way, l grew up on the boardwalk.
I ran the rides. I spun the wheels, I put people’s pictures on T-shirts. I saw thousands of people
spend millions of dollars to win tokens. They saved them up all summer long in hopes of getting that
big prize off the wall in the arcade. Studies have shown that even today if you walk up to a
stranger and offer them either a quarter or an old arcade token, 90% of them will take the arcade
token. When asked why they said they remembered playing the arcade games as a child and saving them
up in hopes of winning a big prize. We all know what a quarter is worth. But an arcade token, that
could be worth a whole lot more. It could be the final token you need to get that big boom box radio
off the wall circa 1985. You can argue that you will spend more money playing the games than you
would if you had just bought the radio. I would argue, where’ the fun in that. In hope there is
magic and there is certainly magic in hope I have Parkinson’s disease. It’s an incurable
degenerative condition. If you ask anyone in the medical profession, they will tell you I’m only
going to get worse. Yet every day I get up with a positive attitude, I take part in clinical
studies. I read research articles. Each one of these activities is like another token that I am
saving up for a cure. It’s hope.. I’m going to place this arcade token a symbol of hope in your hand
along with an ordinary quarterâ¦
