This is some nice, visual magic. The effect is exactly as described. It's ideal for any stand up
show (although closer than that might start to be slightly problematic). You need at least one silk
to perform this (preferably a very dark color), otherwise you flash the gimmick. It's better with 2.
Now for all the technical details:
Difficulty: This is quite difficult (especially
compared to the appearing cane). It takes a fair amount of practice to get the knack.
Reactions: Very good. Good enough for me to start out my kids show with.
Inspectability: It's gone, what is there to inspect? :D You end dirty. The silks are not
examinable.
Quality of gimmick: They say it lasts a life time, but I can't vouch for that
myself. I could say that it will last a really long time if it isn't abused.
Overall: This
is fun to practice and perform from a magicians perspective and entertaining and magical from a
spectators. However, this needs to be used correctly. I have the canes worked into my patter in a
logical way, that also cleans up the gimmick. If not used correctly, this won't get great reactions
from spectators (but is that really any different than most tricks?).
Would I recommend
this to most people? Yes, but not everybody. Before buying this, think to yourself 'Would I be able
to work this into my show?'. If you can find a logical way to add this to your show it will make a
great addition. If not, then this might not be for you (although this is still a fun piece just to
practice). So in conclusion, you most likely should BUY IT!
