Sankey's Secret Files:
Overall: A great, great DVD. Every effect you see on here will have
you going, "Why didn't I think of that?". Below every effect there is a number out of 1-10, 10 bieng
the best effect.
Effects:
Carbon Paper: A super effective and strong bar trick. You
will perform this. It is perfect for walk around as well. 9.5
What If: Pretty easy to figure
out for a layperson. Not the greatest trick, but pretty darn good. 8.0
Strong Medicine: Killer
ending, and the borrowed bill this routine makes use of really adds a lot. 8.5
Selective
Memory: This is Ok... I wouldn't use this as a closer, it is more of an opener, but it isn't that
strong. 7.0
Outsider: Really, really good. I have invented and toyed with almost every color
changing deck out there and this is one of the best. 8.8
Black Market: Again, not to strong,
but a nice method. 7.6
Penalty Box: I personally did not like this because he has used this
move on so many other DVD's. Pretty much the same method as well. 7.0
Sweet Bread: Make a few
changes to the method and you have a heck of a trick here. I love the concept. It is almost like
a... Copper-Silver Transpo except with a sugar packet and a borrowed bill. 9.0
180 Degrees: The
best triumph routine I have seen in years. Method is cool too. 9.3
Chameleon: This is one of
those effects that will make you smile. The concept is ingenious. The method is great. Overall, this
is one of my favorite effects on the DVD. 9.5
Sensations: Really, really nice. A lot like an
ungimmicked Killer Key though, except without the coin. Method is a little... iffy... 9.2
Signed, Singed & Delivered: I don't like this one, because every time I have performed this,
people know what is going to happen. They are not astounded because they get ahead of me, and I
don't really like the structure of the trick. 6.5
Remote Control: I personally would not
perform this, but it might be for other people. This is pretty... well... clished. It is a very old
move used to reach a very old climax. The kicker at the end does add a lot to the effect though. 7.0
Nomad: Not very good. Heat Therapy on International Collection is better. It accomplishes the
same effect just as visually, just with a much easier method. 5.5
X: I have never liked the
invisible deck. Many of you might use this, but you have to trash the invisible deck. If you do this
handling, it will limit you to two effects on this DVD that you can do with your invisible deck.
Otherwise, I would stay away. 6.5
Found Money: Almost identical to Shake and Bake on FRS. I
personally like Shake and Bake better. 7.0
Midnight Special: I am absolutly in love with this
trick. This is so great! It is incredibly versatile, incredibly easy, incredibly strong, and allows
anyone to be creative. The method is very, very ingenious, and the plot is very simple yet it has
the power to convince anyone you have supernatural powers! 9.6
Tunnel Vision: I do not like
this Matrix Routine as much as others. It doesn't feel as clean, nor as good. There really is no
theatrical hook either. My favorite version of the Matrix is Dan Fleshmans. 7.3
Fedex Change:
Clished plot, clished method. It isn't really... well, any different from any other transpo. I would
go with Nailed! by Jay Sankey if you want a Two Card Transposition. 6.0
The Wave Load: This is
a very useful utility move, it is just taught on so, so many other DVD's of his. Mercuring, 45, and
so many more. 9.0
Ditto: I like the simplicity. It is impromptu, and it has a lot of power. A
really, really cool version, plus it is very, very easy to do. 9.5
Over The Counter: A post
graduate course of Thread Work. He tells you you have to do a lot of stuff to the "props" that you
really don't though. 7.8
Spontaneous Combustion: This is my favorite routine on the DVD. It is
really, really, really easy, makes everyone think you are a master card worker, so very magical, and
very, very strong. The kicker at the end is great, and it adds so much to the effect. Everyone will
perform this. 9.7
Healer: A nice T&R. Almost reavealing though, the method is. With a little
bit of work, this is a great piece of theater plus a nice version of T&R. Very visual. 9.2
Classified: I like it, just never gotten around to doing what this requires. 7.5
Hope
you liked my review. Overall, I would rate the DVD... a 8.5. It would not be my first purchase, but
it was only 30 bucks on Sankey's website at the time, so it was definitly worth that. It would have
still been good if it were 60 bucks. So yeah, I reccomend it.
