Let's get one thing straight. "Scratch," by Chad Long is a utility device, not an effect in itself,
meaning that there is no such trick as "Scrach." This is a good thing, though, as it leaves creative
performers with a lot more flexibility.
Like any good utility device, it comes with some
suggested applications. My favorite is "Chicago Scratch," Long's version of the Chicago Opener. The
DVD is of decent quality and it doesn't drag on and on. I also like that the three suggested
applications are unique, with different moves and presentations, not just three variations of the
same thing.
Finally, it's always a plus when refills are offered at a reasonable price, as
in this case. Although, the original comes with enough devices for nearly 100 performances, so it
will be a while before I need to pick up a refill pack.
