I got Unreal in October 2012; long time ago. I felt I have to write a review because the book
deserves it.
There are 77 effects in this book, and each one of them is solid. I myself
have performed more than 10 effects from the book in my acts. For 48 dollars, this is a total winner
!!
For the other effects in the book which I haven't performed, the techniques did inspire
a lot of my thinking.
I should also point out, one of the essays is called "Reading
Between the Lines", where Bruce is basically telling you that upon reading the effects in the book,
you have to "read between the lines" and make out something from the effect, and maybe take it a
step further. That's precisely when I got loads and loads out of the book. I think this chapter
should be read before reading the entire book.
To this day, I still use some of the
effects in my shows.
If Bruce is reading this, I would like to say thanks.
