Very clever little gimmick, makes the effect possible, enabling you to stop the cube from falling,
at any point along the string. Despite this, I have yet to figure out how to discretely "activate"
the gimmick, without drawing attention to the fact that you're doing something funny.....it's a
shame, because the effect of causing the cube to stop on your command, is pretty cool !
I've always just done this one-shot - i.e., arm it beforehand, present the effect a few times, and then dis-arm before handing it off to the spectator. When they get completely baffled, I move on to another trick.
Am 67 years young. Had a billiard ball that did the exact same. I loved it and did my school friends. Yes had it and loved it at school56 years ago. Must get it for old time sake

I have always started with it armed, then "explained" that the secret was to "push the green and red spot together" (for the colored cubio) or "push three
(brass) spots in sequence." Whatever. In 50+ years of performing for kids and adults the focus is on looking for what my fingers are doing having to do with pressure but never with movement.
