Easy to perform, but does require a little spectator management. When showing the spectator how to
perform the overhand shuffle and the Vegas Strip out cut, I stand beside the spectator and not in
front as it is easier for the spectator to shadow the magician’s moves. When demonstrating the pile
distribution and dealing shuffles, I try to stand in front of the spectator. This seems to work
better as far as the spectator’s ability to mimic the moves. So far I’ve had 100% success, but a few
close calls (and of course improvements to the routine). The reactions have been very favorable,
especially because the spectators are doing all the work. BTW I don’t do a pass at the beginning of
the effect, I simply hand the spectator the top ½ of the cards, and then spread my cards out and
say, I think I’ve got about half the deck. I then spread my bottom 4 cards off, like I’m using those
as a measuring tool then cut those to the top. I’ve never been questioned about this at all; to the
spectator the trick really hasn’t started yet.
